President Akufo-Addo has called on the people of the Western North Region to vote for the incumbent government and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) come the December elections.
As part of his regional tour in the region, the president cited the fulfilment of majority of the promises made during the 2016 general election as a formidable reasons to retain power.
The president made this revelation during an interaction with the Western North Regional House of Chiefs during his tour of the region.
“You voted for me in 2016 because you trusted and believed in me. I made a promise to you, which is the creation of a region for you. That has been done and it gives me the courage to stand in front of you again to ask for another four years.”
The creation of the Western North Region, not only garnered the backing of both residents in the area and the major political parties, but also received 99.5 percent endorsement from voters in a referendum.
President Akufo-Addo is currently on a three day working visit to the Western North Region, and as part of the tour, he has commissioned the fourth medical drone distribution centre of Zipline, in Sefwi Wiawso in the Western-North Region.
According to the president, in spite of some initial hiccups and ill reactions towards the drone project, particularly from political opponents, Ghanaians have largely benefited from the initiative.
“The launch of the fourth medical drone distribution centre, is part of our broader commitment to expanding the reach of this service, and ensuring that we do not leave anyone behind in access to essential medicines. By this, it means that we now have the biggest medical drone delivery service in the whole world.”
“I am told over that some 120,000 medical products have been delivered to several health facilities across the country from the various distribution centres.
“With the coming on stream of this fourth centre at Sefwi Wiawso, Zipline will be able to serve about 2,000 health facilities within their range”.
He also noted that in the early days of the country’s fight against Covid-19, medical drones were engaged to expedite the transportation of samples to laboratory centres across the country.
The president will today, September 25, cut the sod for Enchi to Elubo road construction and the inspection of the Feeder Roads office complex, after which the President will address the chiefs and people of Enchi at a durbar.
The President will depart for Dadieso, Bodi and Juaboso to inspect roads under construction and various projects ongoing in the constituency respectively.
He will also cut sod for the Zoomlion Waste Processing Plant in the Juaboso constituency and bring the day to an end with a meeting with Regional Executives and Parliamentary Candidates.
The final days of the President’s visit will begin at Sefwi Wiawso with a live Radio interview on Liberty 92.7 FM.
The President will then move to the Sefwi Wiawso market, where he will break grounds for the expansion of the market, after which he will head to Wiawso to inspect the ongoing construction of a Model SHS in Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai constituency.
The President will end his 3-day visit with the commissioning of a Science Laboratory at Queens Girls SHS in Anhwiaso and conduct an inspection of the progress of work on the Bibiani town roads project in Bibiani to climax his tour of the Western North Region.
