FBNBank Ghana Ltd Commemorates Ghana Women Network

FBNBank Ghana Limited shows its commitment to ensuring gender parity and empowering women in the workforce to reach their full potential, having commemorated the Ghana Women Network.

The Managing Director (MD) of FBNBank Ghana Limited, Victor Yaw Asante, speaking at the official inauguration of the FBNBank Ghana Women Network, intimated that this is one of the initiatives established by its parent, the First Bank of Nigeria Limited to propagate access to equal opportunities for women in the workplace. 

Also, this will go a long way to empower women to contribute meaningfully wherever they find themselves by giving them thenecessary strategic support and an intentionally enabling environment allowing them to take advantage of opportunities made available to them, Mr. Asante added.

In FBNBank Ghana Limited for instance, almost 50% of employees are women who continue yearn for and seek to advance and achieve excellence in their career and personal lives. The Bank remains an equal opportunity employer, Mr. Asante disclosed.

The Managing Director further asserted that FBNBank Ghana Limited acknowledges the fact that gender parity is an essential factor for influencing and ensuring the advancement of institutions, economies, societies, and the world at large hence the Bank’s incessant commitment to promoting such agenda and equipping women to climb up to senior and executive management positions.

Prior to the official inauguration, a number of activities including a Women Network kick-off, Personal Branding and Financial Planning and Empowerment sessions, were carried outto commemorate the Ghana Women Network. Activities were mostly held virtually in adherence to the COVID-19 safety protocols.

Other special guests present at the official launch of the FBNBank Ghana Women Network were Mrs. BashiratOdunewu, a non-Executive Director of the bank, Mrs. Hannah Brenda Amoateng, a non-Executive Director of the bank, Ms. Rosie Ebe-Arthur, FirstBank of Nigeria Limited Group Head, Human Capital Management & Development and Madam Kessewaa Brown, Principal of the National Banking College.

Mrs. Rachel Adeshina, Country Head, Technology & Services of FBNBank Ghana Limited, sharing her thoughts said “the  FBNBank Ghana Women Network was created to empower female employees of the bank to achieve more”.

Rounding up their activities, the FBNBank Ghana Women Network made cash donations to two hospitals in the country namely the Maternal and Child Health Hospital, Kumasi and theMaternity Unit of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital Accra.

The donations are supposed to be used to settle the bills of some women who had given birth at these health facilities but who, due to financial constraints, were unable to duly pay their bills.
