The Inconsistencies Of The NDC Is Overwhelming – Kofi Ameyaw

Kofi Ameyaw - Head of Information of the Permanent Mission of Ghana to the United Nations

The Head of Information of the Permanent Mission of Ghana to the United Nations, Kofi Ameyaw says the inconsistency and indecisiveness of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and its flagbearer is repugnant, given that the party’s flagbearer, Former President Mahama has served in the high office of the President before.

He said this attitude of the Former President is unacceptable and as such, Ghanaians should not take his words seriously.

Mr. Ameyaw sighted the “Fa Nyinaa” policy as an example of the NDC’s indecisiveness. He said the hurried change from the party’s “Kyemu Pe” policy to the “Fa Nyinaa” policy tells the Ghanaian people that, the NDC does not know what they are doing.

Again he added that, the NDC while in office could not afford the provision of chalks for teaching and learning, but yet, is promising the absorption of tuition fees of all university freshmen next year, should they win power.

He stated that, the NDC in no capacity can implement the “Fa Nyinaa” policy, but the party is only giving empty promises to sway voters its way.

On the contrary, he said the commitment of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), to developing the human resource of the country is clear for all given the NPP’s investment in education. He said the party is still committed to increasing investment in the education sector hence, the introduction of scholarships for free S.H.S students who will be pursuing a tertiary education come January.

Mr. Ameyaw noted that, this scholarship intervention has been fully planned for, and is very feasible for implementation by the sitting government.

“It’s unfortunate and unacceptable, repugnant, preposterous for any leader or flagbearer, especially in a country like Ghana to be this inconsistent and indecisive with what he wants to do. More especially when he has had the opportunity to lead this country for eight years.

“On the issue of scholarship, before it was ‘Kyemu pe’ but now it’s ‘Fa Nyinaa’… Do they have the capability to be able to come through if they win? They don’t.  It takes competence, economic bellwether to be able to realize and mobilize money to finance these things.

“Even when they were in government they couldn’t even provide chalks, common chalks. Feeding grants to schools in the Northern Region, these people couldn’t provide. Now they are telling us they are going to spend over GHS 500million when they couldn’t provide common chalks.” Mr. Ameyaw stated.

Reacting to this, Lawyer Abraham Amaliba, Director of Legal Affairs of the NDC said, communicators of the NPP do not understand the words they use. He mentioned that, making an initial plan better does not mean the person is inconsistent, rather, not doing what was previously said is what can be termed as inconsistent.

“Sometimes communicators of the NPP, I don’t know whether they attended the same schools that we attended. Inconsistency is when you say you will do something and you don’t do that thing. Inconsistency is not when you are enhancing the thing that you said you will do.

“We came with ‘Kyemu pe’ and we say now ‘Fa Nyinaa’, is that inconsistency? When you’re enhancing a package? No wonder when the Former President said that we would review the free Senior High School Policy, their President, who also attended schools like they attend said for him, review means to cancel.”

Both representatives of the two main political parties were on an interview where they were both asked, why both parties introduced the free first-year tertiary education for next year’s freshmen at the last minute leading to the elections.
