Reading Time: 3 mins read
, John Setor Dumelo, has lamented that it is a shame that the NPP MPs, voted against the suspension of tertiary fees, considering the abnormal times in which the country finds itself.

Ghanaian actor turned politician, John Setor Dumelo

The actor turned politician John Dumelo, in a letter, has requested the District Electoral Committee, to recount the ballot papers due to some irregularities that have been identified.

The award-winning actor took to his Twitter and posted a letter he claims to have officially written to the District Electoral Officer to recount all ballot papers across the constituency. He wrote:

“I humbly write to your office seeking for a recount of all ballot boxes across the constituency. This is due to several irregularities that has been identified in some of the polling centers”

He further went on to present some of the irregularities and sought the co-operation of the District Electoral Committee.

“One of such irregularities was swapping of my figures and that of the NPP candidate’s figures at the polling centers. Counting on your usual cooperation”.

This has caused a lot of buzz on social media. Some of his fans have sided with him and are in total agreement with the action taken by John Dumelo.

“Yes sir, that’s the spirit. Recount every ballot, you are our winner!

“We are with you brother from afar! Last night you’re leading!!! That lady must be removed immediately by force so please do all that you can do… Heaven is behind you as well. God bless you and your lovely wife.”

Meanwhile, others have taken this opportunity to mock him and asked him to concede defeat.

“Ahh after the EC has declared results and your polling officer has signed you can’t call for a recount unless you challenge the results at the court of law. Requesting for a recount whiles your agent accepted the results and sign unless court. Go to court not recount.

“Asiedu Nketiah said recounting should not be done after declaration so what do you mean?

“Accept defeat and move on.

“I love seeing MAHAMA supporters CRY, it’s my daily medicine, my weekly energy, my monthly inspiration, and my yearly motivation. Their loss is the only reason I’m still alive, I was born to love and enjoy the failure that they have achieved.

“General mosquito says make we no do recount biaaa, once it’s confirmed at the polling center, that’s all.’Enti forg3tii ooo, sika Nu ashii'”.

Lydia Alhassan won against John Dumelo

That notwithstanding, Lydia Alhassan, who  John contended against, has also taken to her Facebook page and said if anyone doubts her winning then they should go back and check the results that were realized yesterday. She wrote:

“If there is anyone who is skeptical that clean politics and genuine politics can win an election; if there is anyone who still doubts the redemptive power of God to guide a woman like me through the rough terrain of Ghana’s politics of insults and vilification, and lift me out of moments of great pain and adversity to a position of glory, the results of this election is your answer”.
