Ghanaian hip pop rapper and singer, Samuel Adu Frimpong, better known as Medikal has rejected being a part of the ‘Stingy Men Association’.

The hitmaker of ‘La Hustle’, was tagged in several posts on Twitter as being very stingy, but Medikal declined all those claims and said he is never a stingy man.

Some artists such as Joey B even came out to confirm and defend Medikal’s claim as not being a stingy man. Here are some posts and his response to the tweets:

Speaking of Joey B, the artist has tasked rapper and songwriter, Tulenkey to record a ‘Stingy Men Association’ song and Tulenkey responded to the request of Joey B on Twitter positing that, the beats will soon be ready and that he will mail it to Joey.

For over three days, the ‘Stingy Men Association’ hashtag has been trending on Twitter and other social media platforms.

The craze over the hashtag started after popular Nigerian entertainers like Mr Eazi and Don Jazzy shared their cards online and declared that are proud members of the social media group. Some Tweeters have even been joking about creating an anthem, a headquarters, and an oath.

Fast forward, the craze got to Ghana and a lot of social media users in the country also decided to join in on the fun.

Meanwhile, unlike Medikal, it appears Sarkodie has funnily confirmed that he is a very stingy man on Twitter, after being tagged as a stingy musician among his colleagues like Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy, M.anifest, and many others.

The BET award-winning rapper, Sarkodie also decided to react when he subsequently sighted a lot of the cards on his Twitter timeline from his fans.

In reacting, Sarkodie expressed his disappointment in the members of the social media association, ‘Stingy Men Association’ for not getting him a card already.

On Sark’s Twitter timeline, he wrote; “What sort of disrespect is this … [I have] been seeing a lot of you guys getting this card before me like how?”

This raised a lot of reactions from tweeps. Some section found his tweet very funny, while others have taken it upon themselves to create some humorous ‘Stingy Men Association’ card for Sarkodie.

It is unclear how the trend started in Nigeria, but the idea has already spread around Africa but it is suggested to have started in Uganda after, in December, a supplement to Uganda’s Daily Monitor published an article outlining a proposed constitution for the Ugandan arm of the group.

In that article, Ian Ortega wrote: “This constitution drafted in the year of the Pandemic will for generations to come to define the meaning of austerity.”

Some parts of his ‘constitution’ hit out at girlfriends asking their boyfriends for money.

“Any daughter of Eve that asks for money shall be treated as an illegal immigrant and be labeled; ‘not wife material,'”.

He went on to say that “a member must feel no shame whatsoever in rejecting any monetary request presented to him”.

This includes requests for money for transport or airtime.
