Ghanaian musical hip-life duo, Keche, has debunked the notion that VGMA ‘Artist of the year’, Kuami Eugene, revived their music group after they featured him on their hit single ‘No dulling’.

They made this assertion during an interview session on an Accra-based television station. They posited that they are already among the A-list acts in Ghana, therefore it wasn’t the collaboration with Kuami Eugene that brought them back to the spotlight. They further praised Kuami Eugene that he is indeed a great artist, and that is why they collaborated with him.

“Keche already has the biggest ‘music’ in Ghana, and we featured Kuami Eugene. So why do people say he revived us? Kuami Eugene is a good artist, and that is why we went in for him, but he didn’t revive us. It’s just business, He has done a lot of collaborations with people but it’s not big like ‘No dulling’”.

Keche Joshua

Speaking on their new music which features Fameye, they said their fans suggested a collaboration with Fameye, and that is how come he was on their new song. When quizzed, if they are not scared that their new song with Fameye won’t take the airwaves like wildfire, since it hasn’t been long they released their hit song, the music duo said:

“There is nothing to be scared about. If you go back to our records, you will find out that we have been giving the people hit upon hit and there is more to come. After we realized that ‘no dulling’ was the biggest song, and our fans were like ‘give us another banger’, we just asked them who do they want us to feature and they said Fameye, another great artist. We did the song and it’s another banger”.

“[Some] years past, you will have Keche release one song, and then wait for a year before we release another. People kept complaining, and we realized that it’s not helping. So, we took a different strategy to just give them the song back to back”.

They also revealed that the reason they have recently been collaborating more with other artists was that several people had complained that they are mostly recording their songs alone without featuring other artists. So, there was the need to put the concerns of their fans to action and give their fans what they want.

“When we started this Keche drive, it was always just the two of us, ‘Pressure’, ‘Aliguntugui’, ‘Body lotion’; all these songs were just us. It was only ‘Diabetes’ that we did with Bisa K Dei… 2020/2021 we are going to do more collaborations for our people”.

Keche Joshua

“Collaborations are good. It helps you become bigger…it takes you out there. You tap into other people’s fan base and vice versa. This is the second chapter of Keche and we are not done, because, we are looking at international collaborations as well”
