BOLANLE AUSTEN-PETERS ANNOUNCES NEW MOVIE AS SHE CELEBRATES 52ND BIRTHDAY.

Nigerian businesswoman and film/theatre director, Bolanle Austen-Peters, has revealed she will be releasing a film, which is reportedly based on police brutality, tailing the #EndSARS protest as she turns 52 today.

Bolanle Austen-Peters, described the movie,’ Palava’, as a ‘thought-provoking drama, which addresses topical issues such as family conflict, corrupt agents and love’. Bolanle took to her Instagram page to make this announcement while posting a video of herself doing what she ‘loves best’, dancing. In the post she took the opportunity to throw light on her life journey, from being a lawyer with the United Nations, and living the glam lifestyle, to discovering her soul in Terra Kulture and meeting the soul of Nigerians, teaching her to love.

“52 today! Thankful and grateful to ALL the people who have been a part of my imperfect journey. From Lawyer with the United Nations @ the Palais des Nation in Geneva living the glam lifestyle; to UNHCR in Addis Ababa working with the displaced/refugees giving me grounding and teaching me compassion; to Namibia working on development programs and alleviating poverty; to Law firms teaching me to defend the defenseless and finally to Terra Kulture discovering my soul and meeting the soul of Nigerians and teaching me ‘TO LOVE’. My Terrakulture team. You are the best and all those who passed through us and are passing through us and will pass through us, thank you for teaching me to identify and respect talent. I cherish every memory”.

The stage and film director also shared bits of the forthcoming feature film. Speaking on the project, Austen-Peters wrote:

“As I continue this path with the release of another movie “Palava”, I am thankful for the gift of creativity bestowed upon me by God Almighty. Palava is a thought-provoking drama addressing topical issues such as family conflict, corrupt agents, and love…

“So today, I am celebrating doing what I love best. DANCE! A big thank you to those who put this BTS together from my photoshoot…”

The movie which is yet to be released will feature amazing performances from Big Brother Naija star, Bamike Olawunmi-Adenibuyan, Kelechi Udegbe, Daniel Etim Effiong, Chioma Akpotha, Kenneth Okoli, Zinab Balogun, Ade Laoye, Bimbo Manuel, Tobi Odunsi, Gregory Ojefua, and Vanessa Vandora.

Meanwhile, information gathered is that the movie, which is also written and co-produced by James Amuta, will be based on the menace of police brutality and the tragic #EndSARS protest.

It can be recalled that in October 2020, thousands of Nigerian youth from across the country chose to take a stand against the extra-judicial killings committed by the Nigerian police branch, known as SARS (Special Anti-Robbery Squad).  Nigerians stood firm in their resolve to fulfill the mission of their generation that is, ending police violence and corrupt governance, by any means necessary and, in many cases, at the cost of their own lives.
