Ghanaian-international musician, King Ayisoba

Ghanaian-international traditional musician, King Ayisoba has disclosed that he will not collaborate with Ghanaian artists as he has decided to only grant collaborations with international artists.

This follows when he was asked during an interview why he hasn’t collaborated with artists like Sarkodie, Kidi among others. The ‘My father’ hitmaker explained that he has been in the music industry for a long time. More so, he has traveled and gathered so many experiences, as well as played on some big international stages. Therefore, he can’t call on Ghanaian artists to collaborate with them.

“I feel like if you want to collaborate with me then you should call me. I won’t be the one calling. Moreover, I will rather collaborate with international artists. I will prefer to collaborate with someone abroad. I am old in the industry and I play on international shows. So, I will never call Kidi. Who is Kidi and Sarkordie? Their kind of music is totally different from mine and so there is a gap”.

Listing some artists that he would have loved to collaborate with, he explained that doing an International collaboration will push his music far rather than collaborating with local artists.

King Ayisoba Explains Why Highlife Isn’t Striving Abroad

Speaking about original Ghanaian music, that is highlife music, King Ayisoba revealed that the reason why the genre of music isn’t striving in the international market is because of the change of instrumentation.

“When I got into the music industry I knew of a few artists: Lord Keya, Buk Bak, Obrafuor. Because before I came to this music Industry, I was around some of these artists. I also know that highlife is a very sweet music but it hasn’t gone far. You see, highlife music is a piece of original music, but the problem is the way highlife music is played. It can’t move out of the country because the original acoustic sound has been replaced with steel guitars. The white man already has that and so it takes away the special factor about the music. That is why it’s not going far”.

King Ayisoba Composes a song to Celebrate Ghanaian Culture.

King Ayisoba speaking about the ‘Wear Ghana, Eat Ghana and Feel Ghana’ agenda disclosed that, he composed a song in that light to admonish Ghanaians to speak the local language.

“My song is an advice to Ghanaians to cultivate the habit of speaking the local Ghanaian language. I go to Abroad and meet Ghanaians who are not able to speak our local dialect and it troubles me. So this song has a message and not just to entertain people”.

The father of 12 also advised that Ghanaian musicians should try and get a band that will produce more organic sounds instead of sticking to modern technology.

“if you are a musician, you have to learn how to play certain instruments, you need to have a band to travel with. Look at Wiyaala she has a band and she is playing internationally. She is going very far”. He is good too. Mum buys food
