The Buckingham Palace has announced the death of the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip – husband of Queen Elizabeth at age 99. 
THE STATEMENT
It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen has announced the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
“His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle.
Prince Philip of Greece and Denmark was born on the island of Corfu in 1921. 
The young prince attended the MacJannet American School in Saint-Cloud, France (not far outside of Paris). In this picture, he engages in a round of archery with some classmates, appearing as though they are pretending to be Robin Hood. Can you spot the Queen’s future husband? He’s second from the left.

Prince Philip enlisted as a cadet in the Royal Navy, according to Army Cadet History. After training at RNC Dartmouth, he went on to work as a midshipman on the HMS Ramillies in 1940. 
The Prince married Queen Elizabeth II in 1947. After the nuptials, Philip became His Royal Highness, The Duke of Edinburgh
