Ghanaian award-winning afro-pop songstress Jane Awindor, known on stage as Efya, has announced the release of a new song and plans to donate proceeds to an SOS children’s village in Zanzibar, Tanzania.

Titled ‘Mama’, she announced this on her social media page where she noted that she;will be releasing a song today to mark the Mother’s Day celebration. She further disclosed that the project which is in partnership with a;retail app, droppTV, will benefit an SOS children’s village. Posting a picture of herself, she wrote: “I got the mic… no stopping now. New music… New energy. A song for mama in collaboration with @droptv.

“All profits from the purchases go to the SOS children’s village in Zanzibar. Comment what you are doing for Mother’s Day below and we will;pick 5 winners for a special Mother’s Day package.

“Honored to be a part of this project with @dropptv for mothers worldwide… We celebrate you. New music coming up”.

Reactions to Efya’s post

Meanwhile, on Twitter, the reactions were totally different when she posted;that she is “about to drop the best music I have made yet!”. Even though there were a few fans who noted that the song was going to be great, most tweeps were of the view that she shouldn’t have made that post. According to them, she hasn’t been helping with the protest online and so she should have just stayed silent until the #FixtheCountry protest dies out. They also noted that she shouldn’t complain if her song doesn’t hit like she expects it to because they are not ready for her song at this moment. Some reactions to Efya’s posts read:

Meanwhile, Efya isn’t the only artist to be featured on this project as she joins five other female artists from other parts of the world for the project. This project includes artists like singer and songwriter, Yana Toma, artist and actress, Jessina, writer and singer, Connie Rodriguez, musical artist, Haley Smalls, and music vocalist and producer, Neekoe.

According to a statement by the retail app, Dropp Tv, they will be releasing “shoppable music” of these artists every day until the Mother’s Day celebration day.
