Announcing her Global Icon prize, the Brits said: “Taylor’s career is unparalleled and; her music and influence has resonated with millions of people all over the world. She’s used her platform to highlight many issues globally and recently has been applauded for her work so far”.

That notwithstanding, the only previous recipients are Elton John (2014), David Bowie (2016), and Robbie Williams (2017).

Meanwhile, Taylor Swift could leave the event with another award as she;is also nominated for ‘International female solo artist’, an award she won in 2015. She is competing in that category with four other American artists- Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, Cardi B, and Miley Cyrus.

Taylor Swift won’t be performing at the Brits

It is worth noting that the 2015 win for the ‘International female solo;artist’ is Swift’s only Brit Award to date, from six nominations. Several fans were expecting Taylor Swift to perform on ‘The Brit Awards;with Mastercard 2021′, however, the artist is not expected to perform on the show.

Touching on performances for that night, Coldplay will be opening;the show for the fifth time in their career, performing their new single ‘Higher Power’. The show will also include performances by The Weekend (who will be performing remotely), Dua;Lipa, Olivia Rodrigo, Griff (this year’s Rising Star award winner), Headie One, and Rag’n’Bone Man & Pink;with the Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust Choir.

Nonetheless, comedian and actor Jack Whitehall will also be the host for the awards night for the fourth consecutive year. The show will be held at The O2 arena, with a live audience of about 4,000 people; roughly one-fifth of the venue’s capacity.

Taylor Swift has set many records on the U.K. charts, as she recently;scored her ‘UK number one’ chart for the seventh time, with a re-recorded version of her breakthrough album, ‘Fearless’.

It can be recalled that it was her third chart-topping album in a few;months, after the surprise release of two lockdown albums, ‘Folklore’ and ‘Evermore’.

According to the Official Charts Company, she is the highest-selling artist of the; year so far in the UK which is remarkable for an artist,15 years into her career.
