The Secretary to the President, Nana Asante Bediatuo has debunked rumours circulating that he has sold the Accra Arts Center. According to him, the claims are as “baseless” and outright and blatant lies.

In a press statement from the Office of the President and signed by Nana Bediatuo Asante, he noted that, an audio recording circulating with an unidentified woman alleging scheduling a meeting between the President’s secretary and herself are untrue.

“I wish to put on record that I have never met this unnamed, unidentified woman or the elders and the chiefs she claims she brought to meet with me.

“She does not state the date of the meeting, the place where the meeting took place and the names of the elders and chiefs who accompanied her to the alleged meeting. That is because, the so-called meeting never took place, or at least not with me”.

Additionally, he further discounted the allegation that his conduct at the alleged meeting was “disrespectful to the chiefs is preposterous”.

“Any who knows me, knows how much reverence I accord to traditional authorities and their protocol”.

Audio recording are pure fabrications

Commenting further on the allegation, Mr Asante denied any involvement in the sale of the Arts Centre. Additionally, he maintained that he has no knowledge on the sale of the center and or “any plans to sell it”.

“Regarding the substance of the allegation, I have not had conversation with anyone about the sale of the arts center. Indeed; I have no authority to engage in such conversations as such matters must follow the laid down government processes as well as the processes spelt out in law”.

Mr. Asante further described the recordings as spiteful and that it’s only aimed at causing “public disaffection”.

“Ordinarily, I will not dignify such baseless allegation with a response to give it oxygen in the media space. However, such false allegations in the manner presented can be believed by some people. I therefore consider it necessary to put out this statement because the allegation made in the audio recording have no iota of truth”.

He, therefore, entreated the general public to disregard the audio recording and treat it with the “utter contempt it deserves”.

The President’s Secretary has in the past been embroiled in one controversy or the other on purported land ownership.

Ga chiefs warn Nana Asante Bediatuo

In October 2020, aggrieved chiefs and people of La, cautioned Mr. Asante against taking their land illegally. According to them, Nana Asante Bediatuo who owns Sandbox Beach Resort is claiming ownership to a parcel of land close to his resort.

As such. he has proceeded to destroy a fence wall around the disputed land.

Speaking at a press conference then, the leader of the delegation, Jeffrey Tetteh, advised Nana Asante Bediatuo to stay off the land or he will have himself to blame.

“When the government called our bluff, history took its course.

“You will recall, once again, from the 10th to the 25th of August this year, a group from the Akyem state, led by one Nana Sarpong Kumankuma, claiming to be the Mponuahene of Apedwa, attempted to raid about 25 Ga villages with the support of the Ghana Army when they descended on the village of Dome Faase. It took the courage of the people to drag them out with fury.”
