Yaw Tog has again achieved another great milestone in his music career as he has been announced as BET's Amplified International artiste of the Month.

Ghanaian rising star and rapper, Yaw Tog.

Yaw Tog has become the current troll on social media after he made a statement about making the British rapper, Stormzy “more popular” in Ghana.

This comes after Yaw Tog was asked about the collaboration and if he thinks it is true that he made Stormzy more popular in Ghana as people have been claiming.

Yaw Tog then answered: “ok yeah. I will say he made me more popular in his market, and I made him more popular here too because people didn’t know Stormzy in Ghana here. So, we both did magic to ourselves”.

Yaw Tog is severely backlashed for comment.

However, a part of the interview where the OWASS final year student, Yaw Tog could only be heard saying “I made him more popular here too because people didn’t know Stormzy in Ghana here” has gone viral which is attracting backlash for what they say is a “disrespect to Stormzy”.

Tweeps have been sharing their thoughts about the comment which has made Yaw Tog and Stormzy a trending topic on Ghana Twitter.

Ghanaian radio Presenter, Sammy Forson, who is part of the people chiding Yaw Tog tweeted

“Yaw Tog’s comments about making Stomzy popular in GH are the kind that unfortunately encourage selfish behavior in the industry… If you know what it takes to be a mainstream artist in the UK and play listed into other parts of Europe, you won’t loose talk… Focus on your music”.

Others defend Yaw Tog

While others have been backlashing YT for his comments, others run to his defense. They were of the view that, had it not been for the collaboration, they wouldn’t have known who Stormzy is.

Ghanaian rapper, Joey B also waded into the conversation as he noted that he doesn’t see anything wrong with Yaw Tog’s comment.

Some also stated that if Stormzy should sight the interview, he would see no malice in what Yaw said. According to them, he knows his worth and he equally made a few more people know who Stormzy is.

Others were also of view that even though Yaw Tog gave Stormzy more exposure in Ghana, he shouldn’t have mentioned it during the interview because it seemed as though he was bragging.

Meanwhile, Yaw has also taken to Twitter to defend his statement. According to him, “It’s quite unfortunate that a very harmless comment I made during a recent interview has been misconstrued by a few for what ever reason. But regardless we move”.

It can be recalled that the BET award-winning rapper, Stormzy hopped on Yaw Tog’s ‘Sore’ remix which was released earlier this year. The song’s official visuals made history as the first Ghanaian music video to hit 1 million views in 3 days and this came as a surprise to several music lovers. Some people even claimed that it was the influence of Stormzy and Kwesi Arthur that made the song reach a wider audience in such a short space.
