Let’s Expect A Ruling That Will Augur Well With Ghanaians- Dr. Fiadormor

Dr. Richard Fiadormor, President for the Chamber of Local Government

Dr. Richard Fiadomor, President of Chamber of Local Governance, has asked the new Board Chair of SSNIT, Elizabeth Ohene, to ensure that SSNIT operations are well streamlined.

Speaking on her appointment, he urged her to ensure that the pension contributions are put to very good use.

“I think the issues about SSNIT is what the people have been talking about, especially about the way the contributions or deductions are being managed.

“We also know about some of the court cases with respect to corruption that happened during the last administration. She should also ensure that activities and operations are well streamlined.”

Touching on how the pension funds are handled, he said that the board of SSNIT together with the Chair, Elizabeth Ohene, must ensure proper investment and management of these funds.

Bring expertise on board

Dr. Fiadomor also asked the board to bring on board experience to the management to help in its operations.

“We have an interest on who manages SSNIT because of our contribution.”

Dr. Richard Fiadomor

Giving his reaction on the appointment, Dr. Fiadomor said he believes Elizabeth Ohene would know how to manage SSNIT and do well regardless of her background.

“She is a seasoned journalist and I know she has worked for a period of time and knows very well as to how they will be able to operate. I have no doubt in my mind that she will be able to do well and take off from where Dr. Addo Kufuor left off.”

Elizabeth Ohene, a good compliment to SSNIT

Also commenting on the appointment, member of government’s communications team, Mr. Alfred Thompson said that due to Elizabeth Ohene’s experience in both local and international fields, she would be able to help SSNIT operate effectively.

“With the experience of corporate management, she has it due to her experience in her job field.

“She will be a very good compliment working at SSNIT because she is not going to do the day-to-day activities. But I believe she is going to help streamline things as Dr. Addo Kufuor leaves office for her to continue.”

New Board Chair to lead SSNIT well

Mr. Thompson further said, Elizabeth Ohene will continue on the right path of what the Former Board Chair, Addo Kufuor, started and also lead SSNIT to where it belongs to.

He then urged the new board to understand what it’s supposed to do and not  veer into other businesses that is not required of them.

“Sometimes left to management alone, if you are not careful, you’ll go wayward. You will need people who understand what the mandate of an institution is, to from time-to-time redirect and reform the course and mandate of management.

“Investing in real estates and other things, that isn’t in their mandate to do.”

Mr. Alfred Thompson

Touching on the difference her appointment will make, he averred that, Elizabeth Ohene is a firm leader who he believes will ensure that SSNIT goes according to its mandate to reap the investments.

“Sometimes you have to manage and see that, what we have invested in is working. I believe she will be the best person to ensure that it happens and move the company in that direction at the moment.”
