Creating new regions has accelerated development- National house of Chiefs

The President of the National House of Chiefs, Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II, has intimated that the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s creation of new administrative regions has accelerated equitable development for the country.

According to the chief, the creation of the regions and their corresponding Regional Houses of Chiefs have also contributed to the development in the nation.

The President of the National House of Chiefs made this known when he joined the President to inaugurate the newly constructed Regional Coordinating Council of the Western North Region, as part of the President’s two-day tour of the Western North region.

Newly constructed Regional Coordinating Council of the Western North Region

Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II, who is also the President of the Western North Regional House of Chiefs, said he has observed that there has been improvement due to infrastructural projects in the region.

“There have been remarkable improvements in the economy of this area, driven by new infrastructure projects has underscored President Akufo-Addo’s wisdom in the creation of the new regions.

“We believe that it is for this reason among many good others that the good people of this country have given you the mandate to govern this country for the second term to continue the development program you have outlined for this country”.

Other notable projects have brought development

In addition to the new Administrative Block for the Regional Coordinating Council at Adiembra-Sefwi Wiawso which was inaugurated, Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II revealed that the Regional Education Directorate at Bibiani and the Regional Health Directorate at Bodi are notable projects that have brought significant development.

The development, he said, has been brought to an area where people, hitherto, had to travel several hours to Sekondi-Takoradi to access the services of these key institutions.

He further stressed that the construction of Controller and Accountant General Directorate at Juaboso, Regional Office for Department of Feeder roads at Enchi, the Awaso Senior High School, Construction of Enchi–Elubo road, Wiawso Township roads and its environs, Wiawso–Akontombra road and the Subiri Junction–Chirano–Etwebo Roads have also invigorated the local economy and created more jobs for the people.

Touching on the various ongoing projects in the region, the chief disclosed that the Suaman District Hospital, under Agenda 111 will witness sod-cutting soon.

He was also noted that he was pleased to learn the progress of work on the Pataboso Junction-Chirano Road, the Asawinso–Merewaa–Nkronua Road, the Benchema Junction–Ajoafua Road as well as Dominibo–Wenchi–Aboduabo–Chine–Hwenampori Road.

Feeder roads must be funded by CRRF

He, however, requested for the construction of the various feeder roads to be funded by the Cocoa Roads Rehabilitation Fund to motivate the cocoa farmers in the region.

“We also request that the construction of most of our feeder roads in the region be funded under the Cocoa Roads Rehabilitation Fund to ease the evacuation of cocoa and motivate the farmers to produce more to enable the country earn more foreign exchange”.

 Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II, further expressed profound appreciation of Nananom and the people of the Western North to the President for his commitment to bringing development to the region and his inclusive approach to dealing with developmental issues.
