Ghanaian musical artist, Kuami Eugene.

Ghanaian award-winning artist, Kuami Eugene has debunked rumors that suggests he steals songs from other people.

This follows several accusations by the public and some artists that the highlife and Afropop artiste has been sampling songs from other artists without their permission nor giving them credits.

It can even be recalled that The Vaultz Media reported that a Nigerian artist identified as Oduma Essan, sued the highlife artiste for allegedly stealing his songs.

Kuami Eugene speaking in an interview explained that his management team does not take copyright violations lightly. Therefore, every music he has ever sampled has gone through the copyright process before being published. According to him, “the right owners of every piece are duly acknowledged to avoid any future issues”.

Kuami Eugene, further speaking averred that the feedback he receives from critics will not stop him from making music. He noted that people will always find faults with him, but that will not stop him from being himself.

The ‘Angela’ crooner disclosed that he is aware of the tantrums people throw at him, especially when he releases new songs. However, he stated that he is not perturbed about those critics, because, he is more “concentrated on positive contributions to music”.

The award-winning artiste claimed that negative comments concerning his musical career began when Amakye Dede named him the next highlife king. According to the ‘Dollar on You’ hitmaker, he has received continuous backlash since the happening.

It can be recalled that Amakye Dede was heavily criticized by industry players for conferring the mantle of highlife genre on Kuami Eugene due to Kuami Eugene’s age. Some even lamented that Kuami will not forever stick with the highlife genre, therefore Amakye Dede shouldn’t have bestwoed such a title on him.

Despite all these, Kuami says he believes some Ghanaians genuinely love him and support his music wholeheartedly.

“I am actually loved. Regardless of whatever[that] is going on and whatever is being said, I am loved by Ghanaians. And I appreciate it”.

The highlife artiste added that his open-mindedness for his music deters him from taking heed to critics.

Touching on his newly released song, ‘Bunker’, Kuami Eugene noted that he wants everyone to know he will never give up on music despite opposition.

“My lyrics in my song doesn’t mean I’m attacking somebody. It’s just a message out there that I’m not giving up because of critics”.

The song, released some days ago and produced by Kuami Eugene, has already clocked 300,000 views on YouTube.

According to the highlife singer, who plans on hitting one million views on YouTube, the numbers gained since the release of the music has been amazing worldwide.

The Lynx Entertainment signee stated that he will release an EP on November 2, 2021. According to him, it is an “Afro highlife EP because it is fused with Afrobeat and Highlife music”.

Kuami Eugene revealed that he cannot exempt highlife from his upcoming EP because of his love for the genre, even though Afrobeat music is more marketable.

He revealed that he was privileged to work with legendary musician, George Darko in producing some songs on the EP.

Kuami Eugene then assured his fans of the consistent release of music to flood the music space throughout the year.
