The National Coordinator of the National Builders Corps (NABCO), Dr. Ibrahim Anyas, has intimated that the extension period of the NABCO trainees to remain at their place of service will be determined by the budget presentation by the finance minister.
Speaking about the announcement of the trainee’s extension, he averred that the subsequent decisions to be taken with regards to the training programme will also depend on the budget reading set to take place tomorrow, Wednesday November 17, 2021.
“And I believe that something good will come from the budget tomorrow. We also have to appreciate that in terms of career choices the individual trainees have made, they will have a maturating point. I believe that there are some of them, even as I speak to you, who probably have found something and would wish to leave the NABCO training”.

He averred the decision on the extension is a brilliant thing for all graduate trainees who have joined NABCO. He added that for all those who enrolled, the promise was always that trainees will be given training and within a period of three years they will be given a value-added training either in the private sector or public.
“If you look at the numbers we took on over three-year training period, with over 49,000 of them meant to transition within the period. His Excellency the President, believes that he has to stay true to what was promised. And as a result, the NABCO trainees will have to continue”.
