Citizens Call For Better Performance From Government in 2022

A busy street in Accra

As government enters into its second year of governance under its second term, citizens call for a better governance and performance to help improve the living standards of citizens in the country.

Sharing their views with The Vaultz News, they called for reconsideration of some policies and also better conduct from parliamentarians during decision making to help improve the nation.

Speaking with The Vaultz News, Samuel Anim, a graduate of the University of Ghana, sharing his expectations intimated that he is expecting the ruling government to take the views of the minority into consideration when formulating policies as the new year of governance has begun.

Mr. Anim stated that with the issue of fuel prices, he expects a stabilization of the fuel prices to ease the burden it has placed on consumers. He further called for improvement in some other sectors of the country.

“I also expect this government to do better in the areas of unemployment, our health system, our education system”.

Mr. Anim

Parliamentarians must do better

With the conduct of the parliamentarians last year, he averred that as they have been select to lead, moving forward, he expects the parliamentarians to do better in terms of decision making and conduct.

“The parliamentarians should have the best interest of the people and build a consensus anytime they don’t agree on something”.

Mr. Anim

In this new year, Miss Judith Dogbe, a National Service personnel at Margins Group indicated that she is hoping for a more calm sitting in Parliament and expects parliamentarians to work amicably, work together and put all partisan wranglings aside.

“The Parliamentarians are our leaders. I don’t understand why they should be fighting among themselves. It’s not about the minority or the majority. I just think they should work together if they want this country to be a better one”.

Judith Dogbe

Need for better governance

Judith Dogbe called on Government to perform way better than the previous year because the country continues to retrogress. She stated that changes the country is experiencing is something that is not helping the country to move forward.

“Just look at the price of pure water, as some sell it for 30 others are selling it for 40 pesewas. The outrageous budget, the e-levy on mobile money and everything. Ghana is becoming so expensive. The country is already expensive but it is becoming so expensive now”.

Judith Dogbe

Judith Dogbe was of the view that government can do better in terms of restructuring some policies and decisions to help the citizens.

“At this point, there is nothing to write home about as a country. We just keep increasing prices on things making everything just go high and I think government can do way better”.

Judith Dogbe

Nana Adwoa Nimo, an Environmentalist at Newmont Ghana noted that she personally does not have any expectations for the year in terms of governance because government is fond of not fulfilling its promises.

“Government is always promising us but nothing better comes out of it. We are always hoping that they do better but they keep on failing us but the Bible says that hope doesn’t disappoint so we will keep on hoping”.

Nana Adwoa Nimo

Nana Adwoa Nimo stated that as the year goes on despite the failed promises, government should fulfill some of its promises to the nation.

Need to reject the e-levy bill

Touching on the parliamentary decisions this year, she is expectant that the e-levy bill wouldn’t be passed.

“It’s very sickening, so I am expecting that the opposition will vote against it”.

Nana Adwoa Nimo

Also sharing her expectations with The Vaultz News, Mariam Yemoh, a worker at Events PR, averred that she has no expectations in terms of better governance because she has come to terms with the fact that anything can happen.

“It looks like all hope is lost, so I really can’t say anything concerning government”.

Mariam Yemoh

However, she indicated that government can and should do better.

“I am not in a position of power but at least we know that we put them there for a reason”.

Mariam Yemoh

Mariam Yemoh called for a better attitude from the parliamentarians to help push the nation’s agenda forward. She was hopeful that parliamentarians will put their differences aside and do what is best for the nation. citizens citizens citizens

“They act like children and we can’t have children at the forefront of our affairs”.
