For some few weeks now, there has been contention over Celestine Donkor’s nomination in the 3Music award, as one of the numerous nominated artists who stand the chance of being the Artiste of the year. Celestine defending her nomination has noted that she believes the board of 3Music Awards did a thorough job before unveiling their list.

Celestine Donkor speaking on the issue noted that all the musicians contesting for Artiste of the Year deserve to be on the list and that is why they were nominated. She also attributed her feat to the songs she released under the year of review.

“I had three major releases in the year under review. My songs ‘Only You’, ‘Thank You’ and ‘Praise Him’ did so well and I had no doubt they were going to work for me. The interesting part of the 3Music Awards is that musicians don’t submit their works but the research team at 3Music does their own thing. So, I believe they did a thorough job”.

In the same vein, Celestine Donkor revealed that her music is doing well on streaming platforms in Kenya than in Ghana at the moment.

Celestine made this revelation after she was asked whether she is against the hullabaloo of Ghanaian Gospel Musicians not getting shows in other countries.

The ‘Agbebolo’ hitmaker answered that there are measures musicians need to take for their music to appeal to the global market, which has to with their brand positioning. To her, once your music is seen, heard, and loved in other countries the people would connect to it.

Celestine also touched on how easy it has become in recent times for musicians to get their music across borders due to the mechanics available to them.

Talking about how well her current EP is performing on streaming platforms in Kenya than in Ghana, she indicated that it is something she and her team were made aware of, based on the numbers provided by streaming platforms including YouTube.

gospel artists, Celestine Donkor says her collaboration with the Kenyan gospel star, Evelyn Wanjiru has opened many doors for her in East Africa, which is gradually reflecting in her streams.

Disclosing what led to achieving such a situation, she suggested that it was as a result of a spectacular performance she rendered at a concert in Kenya dubbed ‘The Praise Atmosphere’ which caused the people of Kenya to fall in love with her, thereby naming her the ‘Crazy Woman’ due to her performance on stage.

The video of the performance amassed a million views in two days on Youtube after the concert, Celestine revealed. She further indicated that she was not surprise about the love being shown to her by the people of Kenya as this was how she got her breakthrough there.

Celestine Donkor is set to return with ‘Celestial Praiz’ on the 6th March 2022 at the Victory Bible Church Dominion Sanctuary, Awoshie, after it went on a hiatus for two years due to Covid-19. This year’s edition promises to be very exciting as the likes of Obaapa Christy, Kofi Peprah, and The Bethel Revival Choir are billed to perform.
