Hiplife/Hip-hop artist, Ayesem, disclosed that he has vowed not to ask Kofi Kinaata for a collaboration again since Kinaata refused him on countless occasions.

In an interview, the rapper revealed that all his attempt to have Kofi Kinaata on a song has proved futile. According to Ayesem, Kofi Kinaata is like a brother, who he has known for a very long time. However, Kofi Kinaata has never accepted his request for a collaboration.

Narrating his failed attempts to collaborate with Kofi Kinata, Ayesem said: “I’ve sent him songs for collaboration, but he hasn’t given me any positive vibes. Before my song, ‘Fantiaa na Meka’ came out, I sent it to him. He was happy with the song.  I believe collaboration should be mutual. He even brought some ideas on how we were going to do it, but I didn’t hear from him again”.

Ayesem, giving an account of the whole issue said: “I heard him [Kinaata] say somewhere that I don’t approach him the right way. When he needed me for his ‘Made in Taadi’ concert, he didn’t even call me, he didn’t call my manager. He sent me a voice note, telling me to cancel my shows for his. And we laughed about it, so, I don’t know how he wants me to approach him”.

Ayesem further claimed that in 2019, when covid was at its peak, he called Kinaata for the same cause, however, Kofi Kinaata never reverted.

“He [Kofi Kinaata] told me, he has dismantled his studio because of covid. He promised to come through for me when the dust settled. I don’t know if he’s going to call me now or later. So, I have made a vow to myself that I’m not going to call Kofi Kinaata for a collaboration again”.

The musician then boasted that “whether the collaboration comes or not I’m still Ayesem. I don’t need him to make it because I did the song alone that made me. Nobody helped me”.

Ayesem laments being sidelined

In 2020, Ayesem during an interview, lamented how he has been sidelined by some colleagues in the music industry who seem not to recognize his efforts.

Ayesem at that time averred that he produces better music than a lot of artists in the industry, however, they enjoy the airplay than he does.

The ‘Koti’ hitmaker revealed that he was also stunned by how award schemes in Ghana failed to acknowledge his works.

“Sometimes I am saddened by the vibe going on within the various nominations. They talk about the best rappers in the country and I am not nominated. Meanwhile, I am better than ninety percent of the nominees”.

Ayesem was however grateful to his loyal fans for their unwavering support despite his unsuccessful attempt at National recognition.

“I thank the people of Takoradi and the entire region for being my backbone all these years. They helped my brand and I’m very grateful for their endless support”.

According to the Shocks Entertainment signee, his management and other gatekeepers were deliberating on how to project his brand and he was hopeful that may yield some fruits soon.
