The elder brother of Yul Edochie, Uche Edochie, has revealed that the family was not in support of the actor’s decision to marry a second wife and father a child with her.
Uche Edochie, who noted that the family is in shock of Yul’s actions, disclosed the family advised him not to go through with his plans, however, he ignored them.
“Have you ever tried controlling an adult when it comes to relationships? Good luck with that. Yul is an adult who feels marrying a second woman is the best way to own up to his mistakes and make things right,” Uche wrote in a lengthy post on Instagram.
Uche Edochie noted that it is unfortunate Yul’s first wife, May, has been roped into this. According to Uche, May did not agree to a polygamous marriage with Yul Edochie when they tied the knot, therefore, the current situation is absolutely unfair to May.
“I feel for May…My family is not in support. This is not what we do and we are trying our best to console May. What else can we do?” Uche questioned.
Uche Defends Yul’s actions?
However, Uche Edochie believes that his brother does not deserve the condemnation he is facing now as he explained that if a Muslim marries another wife, the world would not make a big deal about it. Uche suggested that “maybe Yul should become a Muslim and shut this circus down”. He further noted that people should not be too quick to judge the actor, especially since women throw themselves at actors all the time and it gets “suffocating”.
“If the average person walks in Yul’s shoes for one year, they will get five or more women pregnant. So don’t be quick to judge if you have not lived that life. Most people will do worse”.
Uche’s comments came after Yul Edochie surprised many fans and followers when he revealed on Instagram, that he had married another woman and they share a son. The announcement did not sit well with his first wife, with whom he has been married, for nearly 17 years and shares four children with. Some fans, who sympathized with May, chastised the actor for having a kid with another woman.
Meanwhile, Yul Edochie, who seems unperturbed about the whole situation, has expressed surprise at how news of his second marriage broke the internet.
In a Facebook post, Yul noted that the recent news gave him more attention than all his past involvements in the movie industry and politics. Writing in Pidgin, the actor expressed amazement by the fact that he could break the Internet and get over 60,000 comments on one post.
“So, I fit break Internet like this? So, I can get over 60k comments on one post? But I dey act film, dey give una Hollywood performances since una no send me. Best voice, una no send me. I ran for Governor, una no send me. I’ve been a strong voice for the people, been an activist, I do Endsars, una no send me. I wan run for President, una no still send me. But na dis one scatter Internet. Na dis one come make una send me finally. Na waa for una oo.”
