Multiple award-winning Ghanaian singer, Black Sherif, has praised Nigerian superstar, Burna Boy for his immense impact on his music career.

Speaking in an interview, the ‘Second Sermon’ hitmaker, disclosed that anytime Burna Boy performs his song during his tours, most people visit his digital platforms to stream the song.

“Burna Boy’s impact is really big because he performs the song on his tour shows and if you’ve been monitoring my digital streams, you will understand what I’m saying. You see during his tours, the graphics of my streams go up because different people come to my digital platforms. So, Burna Boy has been really supportive. Big blessings to Burna and big love to him wherever he finds himself and I believe that if I get on the road we will definitely meet for sure”.

Black Sherif

Black Sherif’s comments come on the back of Ghanaian rapper, Kwaw Kese, who recently criticized Burna Boy for not going on his world tour with Black Sherif like he promised but rather performing the ‘Second Sermon remix’ alone without the originator.

Black Sherif’s songs a negative influence?

In the same vein, Black Sherif refuted allegations that he is gradually becoming a negative influence on the youth with the kind of words he uses in his songs.

Some people have criticized ‘Kwaku the Traveller’ hitmaker, for using ‘swear words’ and also for mostly talking about marijuana in his songs but he vehemently disagrees with the negative influence tag.

According to Black Sherif, he doesn’t believe he is a negative influence on the youth. He explained that he is only trying his best to make it to the top with his creativity. Therefore, there are some rules he had to break to reach that level.

“I don’t write to influence people negatively. The fact that I write about marijuana doesn’t mean I am advocating or endorsing that the youth should use it. When I pick a pen to write a song, what flashes back in my mind is what I went through when I was like 7 or 8 years old and that’s what I try to write. Songs that inspired me, that made me feel that I can do something, the words used in those songs are what I write but I don’t mean it in a negative way”.

Black Sherif

Black Sherif noted that he always strives to be an inspiration to the younger ones in a positive light. According to him, he wants them to believe that everything is possible so far as they put their minds to it.

“I want kids to see me and feel that anything I’m doing I can make a living out of this, that’s all I’m trying to do. So, I don’t want to inspire people to go and do anything negative,” Black Sherif said.
