The V-Block in the school has a total of 24 classrooms, as opposed to 12 classrooms in the E-Blocks constructed by the former administration.

The seven new schools are located at Kwadaso, Dabaa, Awaso, Abomosu, Akrodie, Weija and Kpasenkpe. Seven (7) out of the nine (9) schools are proposed science focused schools, with the other two being the first ever Creative Arts School, Kwadaso, in Kumasi, and a Senior High Technical School at Dabaa, named after former President J. A. Kufour.

The first ever Creative Arts School in Ghana, located at Kwadaso, shall equip students for the Arts, through powerful learning experiences, embrace and excel in the arts and academics, whilst working towards their visions of the future.

Also, the Project has been designed to include the following 2-storey administration block; library block; auditorium / theatre (1,300 designed capacity); 4-storey 16-unit creative arts block with ancillary facilities; 4-storey 20-unit classroom block with 4 dedicated laboratory rooms; 3-storey dormitory block; 2-storey dormitory block; dining hall with kitchen; principal’s residence; 2 vice principals’ residence; sports area; maintenance shed; waste treatment/holding bay; access roads and paved walkways; and gate house.

This School, in honour of the former president of Ghana, J. A. Kufour, is expected to equip students for the Arts, Science and Technical disciplines through interactive experiences using state of the art methods.

The School, once completed, will strive to educate students through theoretical and practical training in technical disciplines, creative production and processes for technical education, and to provide a backbone for the industry under the One District One Factory (1D1F) programme.

President commissions Specialty Beers Ghana

Meanwhile, President Akufo-Addo commissioned the Specialty Beers Ghana (SBL) Limited, an enterprise operating under Government’s One-District-One-Factory initiative.

Located in Kwasi Tenten, in Nsawam Adoagyiri Municipality of the Eastern Region, on a five-acre land, Specialty Beers was established to manufacture specialty ‘ale or top fermented’ beers for the Ghanaian market.

As part of SBL vision to reduce dependency on importation of raw materials, the company has already invested in the development of a number of beer recipes using mainly adjuncts (such as maize and broken rice) partly replacing malted barley which cannot be sourced in Ghana.

A number of local suppliers of these cereals, including Avnash Limited and Hila Farms, Limited have been engaged as anchor suppliers of basic raw materials.

The brewery will be the first to introduce top fermentation brewing process in Ghana. This high-end brewing technology allows the usage of over 70% un-husked grains during the mashing process while ensuring absolute clarity of the beer without stripping any flavour or aroma due to the centrifuge filtration system.

The entire production process of the state-of-the-art production facility is environmentally friendly and utilises only recyclable materials (no plastics). In addition, the company uses cleaning chemicals that allow the wastewater (by-product) to be used as fertiliser and potassium acetate.

Currently, the company has engaged 20 permanent staff who are involved in the pre-factory launch activities in specific areas of factory operations. It is expected that once the company starts full operation, over 60 additional staff would be directly engaged whiles about 1500 indirect employment opportunities will be generated.
