Only The NPP Can Rescue The Future Of This Country – Sylvester Tetteh

Hon Sylvester Tetteh, MP For Ngleshie Amanfro

The Member of Parliament For Bortianor-Negleshie Amanfro Constituency, Hon Sylvester Matthew Tetteh has stated that the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) is the only party that can rescue the future of the country.

Speaking in an interview on Wednesday, November 9, Mr Tetteh noted that he has been a regular panelist on several shows in defense of the government, because he believes and trust that it is only his party, the NPP, that can help secure a better future for the country.

“Those who are making noise, trying to take advantage of the current state of the economy has no track record that can match ours. If the NDC was to be in power, I don’t know what they would have done in these tough times.”

Sylvester Tetteh

He stated that even though the country is in a very difficult economic situation, he continues to defend the government because he believes there is hope for the country as far as the NPP remains in power.

Mr Tetteh, who was speaking on the ailing economy of the country and the call for government to dismiss the Finance Minister, Hon Ken Ofori Atta, noted that it is the decision of the entire Majority caucus to let the Finance Minister go, following his inability to salvage the present economic crisis, ranging from hike in fuel prices, depreciation of the local currency, increament in fares to the hike in prices of goods and services.

“Until someone from the Majority side comes out to say he does not agree with us, the position of the Majority Caucus in Parliament remains the same that, Ken must Go.”

Sylvester Tetteh

According to him, supporting “Ken Ofori-Atta Must Go” does not mean the Majority caucus will go to Parliament with a censure. He further emphasized that the NPP has never supported the call for censure by the NDC.

“We have never supported the NDC on the call for vote of censure. Our official position with regards to the removal of Ken Ofori-Atta has never been so.”

Minority To Move Vote Of Censure Against Ofori-Atta

Meanwhile, the Minority Caucus in Parliament, will Tomorrow, November 10, 2022, move its vote of a censure motion against Mr Ken Ofori-Atta, the Finance Minister.

The motion is embedded with a seven-point allegation as grounds for the removal of the minister. Among the seven-point allegations embedded in the motion are a despicable conflict of interest ensuring that the minister directly benefits from Ghana’s economic woes as his companies receive commissions and other unethical contractual advantage, particularly from Ghana’s debt overhang.

The Caucus in its advertised censure since October 26, had cited mismanagement of the economy, alleged withdrawals from the Consolidated Fund, and illegal payment of oil revenues into offshore accounts among others as the grounds for the exercise.

The Minority caucus in Parliament cautioned its members against absenting themselves when it finally moves the vote of censure motion against the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta on Thursday.

The caucus said it would leave no stone unturned in its quest to see the back of Mr Ofori-Atta as Finance Minister.

Since the motion was filed, the Majority in Parliament has raised a preliminary objection on the motion of censure, saying the full facts needed to be made available to the minister in order not to spring surprises on him.

The Deputy Majority Leader, Alexander Kwamina Afenyo-Markin, who raised the objection, said the manner in which the motion was crafted was unfair to Mr Ofori-Atta, insisting that the full facts needed to be made available to him in order for him to properly appreciate the facts and respond appropriately.
