Anas Is Corrupt Than Everyone- Kwaku Tetteh

Anas is more corrupt than everyone.

Alex Kwaku Tetteh, President of Citizen Eye Ghana (CITEG)

President of Citizen Eye Ghana (CITEG), Alex Kwaku Tetteh, has accused Anas Aremeyaw Anas, popular undercover media journalist in Ghana, of being a very corrupt man despite the fact that his work is praised and admired by many. According to Mr. Tetteh, Anas was partial in exposing the judges who practiced corruption in his 2018 video footage.

He based his claims on the fact that he was also in the field of investigation, and he termed Anas as clueless with regards to his investigative work. Mr. Tetteh stated that, the way Anas handled Adu Boahen’s case was not the best, and the government should have investigated the issue because Anas has no credibility in the country.

Mr. Tetteh suggested that Anas’ identity be revealed, so that Ghanaians can see his face and know the person behind his work, saying the court has already asked for this to be done. With regards to a speech given by the President some years ago where he stated that he was going to use the “Anas principle” to drive out corruption, Mr. Tetteh argued that the President might have changed his mind a long time ago because he might have come to a realization that Anas’s ways are not right.

“If someone is working under the President, he can create an audience with the President for someone who seeks his help and when he is able to do this, that person can give him something small as a reward. So maybe it’s the number of rewards that they get. We are in this country, and I’ve seen a minister who signed a document and was given 1.6 million dollars.”

Alex Kwaku Tetteh

In the discussion, Mr. Tetteh stated that there were people who had done far worse than Adu-Boahen, and he questioned why those videos were still not out.

Anas Known For His Works

Meanwhile in the same discussion, a member of CITEG, Mr. Osei Hwere E Kwame Bempah, argued that Anas is popular for the work he does as an investigative journalist, even if he does not have credibility from the government.  He said that the cases that are being exposed should be taken one by one or else mixing them will make them difficult to solve, and that one case solved can even lead to the solution of another.

He stated that he was not disputing the fact that Anas does not work for the government, and he is not saying that any evidence Anas brings is more credible than that of the accused. He added that not all evidence that is brought out should be considered as credible, and that further investigations should be made before giving the evidence credibility.

“We have not yet carried out an investigation, that’s why the President said we should do an investigation, and you can’t say that we should complete the investigations without dismissing him. This is because the President believes that when Adu- Boahen is still in office, his position might compromise the investigation.”

Mr. Osei Bempah

Mr. Bempah explained that, according to a report from World Bank, Africa loses close to 34 billion dollars to corruption every year. He suggested that since Ghana has a lot of institutions such as EOCO and the CID and a special prosecutor, these people should look into every ministry and department before a case is brought out.

He also said that we do not have to sit down and wait until someone brings out evidence before investigations are being conducted.
