Dean Of UPSA Law School Satisfied With Maiden Diplomatic Dialogue Series

Dean of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) law school has expressed satisfaction at the outcome of the maiden edition of the Diplomatic Dialogue Series.

According to Prof. Kofi Abotsi, the program garnered the involvement of faculty members and students alike.

Speaking in an interview with Vaultz News, Prof. Kofi Abotsi said, “The program met my expectation even though we didn’t start on time.”

Abotsi divulged that the Diplomatic dialogue series will be held quarterly with the next one due in February 2023 and the law school is already in talks with other ambassadors for them to participate in the next Diplomatic Dialogue Series.

The Pro Vice Chancellor of UPSA, Prof. Charles Barnor acted as Chairman of the occasion. In his special remarks, he opined that the selected theme; “Global crises, African conundrums and US Foreign Policy” was of immense importance to him.

“I am also very optimistic that whatever solutions is proffered here will have an impact not on only our university but on policy directions of all governments in this country and beyond.”

The Diplomatic Dialogue Series

The maiden edition of the diplomatic dialogue series, organized by the UPSA law school took place on Wednesday, November 30, 2022.

The topic for discussion was “Global crises, African conundrums and US Foreign Policy.”

The dialogue which happened at the East wing of the UPSA auditorium was aimed at examining the evolution of US-Ghana relations within African and global contexts and US policy towards Ghana especially in these difficult times.

The event was graced by the US ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Virginia Palmer, who was the keynote speaker. Professor Kofi Abotsi, the Dean of the UPSA law school moderated the discussion.

The ambassador spoke on a wide array of issues; democracy, human rights, economic issues, the Russia-Ukraine war and immigration. She also answered questions posed to her from some people in the audience.

In attendance were the Pro Vice Chancellor of UPSA, faculty members, lecturers and students.
