Executive Director for Media Foundation West Africa (MFWA), Sulemana Braimah, has expressed the need for government to institute strong multinational approach in tackling terrorism.

Executive Director for Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA), Sulemana Braimah.

The Executive Director of Media Foundation West Africa (MFWA), Sulemana Braimah, has commended the new crop of leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), following their election of new national executives.

According to him, the leadership of the NDC in terms of experience are superior to that of the opposition, New Patriotic Party (NPP). He indicated that the new NDC national executives have the requisite skills to steer the affairs of the party.

“I will say that if you look at the experience, at this particular moment, there is no doubt that the leadership of the NDC in terms of the Chairman, the general secretary, the national organizer, the national women’s organizer certainly has superior experience if you compare them with the leadership of the NPP.”

Sulemana Braimah

Mr Braimah stated that there’s no doubt about the experience of Asiedu Nketia when juxtaposed politically and in terms of administering the party, to the NPP’s Stephen Ayensu Ntim. He explained that Asiedu Nketia has been the general secretary of the NDC for the past seventeen years and prior to that, he was an MP and stands tall in electoral matter.

“… If you compare him with Stephen Ayensu Ntim, of course, Ntim is a stalwart in NPP and Ghanaian politics but in terms of practical experience, Asiedu Nketia will stand tall. If you look at Fiifi Kwetey and you want to compare him with JFK, certainly there’s considerable experience on the part of Fiifi Kwetey. He’s been the national propaganda secretary of the NDC for almost two terms, he’s been a Member of Parliament before, he’s been a deputy minister and minister. So, politically and in terms of party issues, again, he has superior experience compared to JFK… So, these are folks with considerable experience.”

Delegates’ choice of leaders for the party

Commenting on the victories of the contestants who vied for various positions in the party, Mr Braimah stated that the success of these individuals were predicate on the delegates vote of confidence in them as well. He noted that the delegates were looking for people who were “supposedly combatant or radicals [and] persons that will be able to stand up to any form of bullying”.

“So, if ahead of the elections, if you engage any of those who were delegates, that was mainly the factor… I think that was the driving force behind the victory of these people. In the case of Asiedu Nketia, the actions of Anyidoho and Allotey Jacobs did not help the chances of then chairman Ofosu Ampofo. Again, you can’t discount the experience of General Mosquito…”

Sulemana Briamah

The executive director of MFWA further lauded the delegates choices in leadership, insisting that they’ve gone for “folks that undoubtedly have the experience”. With this, he expressed that the new executives will be able to contribute their quota to the democratic sustainability of the country which is really critical.

“So, congrats to those who won and better luck to those who lost and for me, the most important thing is our democracy and integrity of it. Having governance that is accountable, transparent, that involves the citizenry and serving the interest of the citizens, that is what we must all continue to fight for.”
