The Ghana Police Service

The Ghana Police Service has disclosed that it has recorded a worriedly increasing number of advertisments aimed at luring people into dubious activities that are claimed to generate riches overnight.

Describing the advertisments as ‘charlatanic’, the police noted that, the activities are assuming serious security implications for the society as a whole.

According to the security institution, the activities which begin with advertisments on some mainstream and social media platforms, lure unsuspecting members of the public including children and deceive them into engaging in such dubious acts with the hope of getting rich quick.

In a press release signed by Chief Superintendent Grace Ansah Akrofi, the Director of Public Affairs, the Police indicated that investigations has shown that the rise in such activities has contributed to serious crimes such as kidnapping, defrauding by false pretences and even murder.

“Some notorious cases attributable to the situation the Mankessim murder case, where the suspects under pretext of sending their victim abroad, murdered them for ritual money and the Kasoa case where two teenage boys murdered their collegue also for money rituals”

The Ghana Police Service further stated that the activities are not just unethical, but criminal and punishable under the laws of Ghana.

The statement urged electronic communication network operators, providers of electronic communication and broadcasting service, to rise to their responsibilities and not allow their platforms to be used in promoting or advertising such activities.

According to the police, it has intensified its enforcement efforts across the country alongside education of relevant stakeholders on the position of the law of the matter.

The institution, further advised the general public to be wary of such advertisments and work together with the police to and ensure peace and security in the country.

Money Ritual Ads On TV

Indeed, various television stations in recent times have had an influx of mallams and pastors who preach about quick ways to make money, ways to double money, among other things.

On televisions today, what people are complaining about is the advertisement of Money rituals, Double money, Ring money, occult groups, Blood money and it’s kind.

Almost all the new television stations on satellite and digital platforms now are into this Fake Mallams and priest advertisment.

The National Media Commission and National Communication authority ( NCA ) are paying a deaf ear to this plea from Ghanaians.

About 98% of these mallams who claim to have the powers for money ritual and double money are fake. Hence they tell you to do something they know you can’t after taking your money.
