C-DAG Threatens To Invoke Curses On Majority Legislators On Failure To Effect Removal Of Finance Minister

It is time to reimagine our future- Finance Minister on Agyapa Royalties deal

Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta.

The Concerned Drivers Association of Ghana (C-DAG) has called for the immediate dismissal of finance minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, from office.

Advising the majority in parliament, particularly the 80 members who openly declared that their constituents want Ofori-Atta removed, the association reminded them that they are in parliament as representatives of the people and not themselves.

The association noted that Ghanaians have already passed verdict on Ken Ofori-Atta and the MPs have no business but to make sure that he is removed from office.

C-DAG emphasized that any failure on the part of the MPs to effect the finance minister’s removal shall be deemed as a “compromise because they were bribed and will not hesitate to invoke traditional curses on you from the resting place of Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah”.

“We shall also block the road anywhere we spot any of you to ensure that you are being hooted at. Ghana is sinking and we believe it must take our collective effort to put the country back on track.”

Concerned Drivers Association of Ghana

Contained in a press release, signed by national chairman of the association, Paa Williams, it revealed that it does not want to believe that the MPs backtracked their decision because of the alleged attempted bribery of these legislators by a certain businessman.

“We rather believe that you only softened your stance as a result of the President’s plea and we’d want to believe that as of now, you’ll fully support our call for the sacking of the minister. In the spirit of this, we expect that you ensure his removal before the end of this month.”

The association believes that the incompetence of the finance minister has been clearly written on the walls and Ghanaians are feeling the brunt of the outcome which is an unprecedented hardship. It revealed that the incompetence of the finance minister has sunk Ghana’s economy into a ditch.

It noted that the country is battling with the situation of a frail currency, high inflation rates and unstable prices of petrol.

“We want to unreservedly state that, we can no longer accept Ken Ofori-Atta as minister of finance regardless and any attempt to keep him shall be meted with fierce revolt.”

C-DAG stated that it would not wish to remind the President that he pleaded for his cousin, the finance minister, to be allowed to stay in office because the IMF negotiations were ongoing.

However, it noted that as at now, negotiations are over, and the association is confident anyone at all can take over and supervise the IMF program as well as the ministry’s activities.

Some NPP MPs at a press conference on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, demanded the immediate sacking of Mr. Ofori-Atta as Finance Minister. The MPs threatened their absence for the 2023 budget hearing which was to subsequently result in government losing their support for its business going forward if President Akufo-Addo failed to heed to the call.

They also urged President Akufo-Addo to remove the Minister of State in charge of Finance at the Ministry of Finance, Charles Adu Boahen.

Okaikwei Central MP, Mr. Patrick Boamah, stated that the call for the reshuffle of the Finance Ministry is a good one if the Akufo-Addo-led government wants to succeed and break the cycle of eight. Mr. Boamah asserted that if it requires Akufo-Addo to sack all his cabinet ministers and set up a new government, the MPs will support him.
