Ecobank Group Becomes The First Pan African Bank To Win ‘The Best Place To Work In Africa’ Award

Ecobank Group, has been adjudged the first Pan African bank to have won the ‘Best Place to Work in Africa’ award from the Best Place to Work Organization.

The award recognizes and honours organisations with exceptional HR Practices and excellent employees’ experiences.

A statement from the Ecobank Group said the process involving the selection of the best candidate for the award requires a rigorous assessment and ranking, which is based on a series of robust and objective assessments conducted at various hierarchical levels and across HR operations and procedures.

The exercise of choosing also includes an HR assessment and an employee assessment survey, which covers the following areas: HR practices; compensation, benefits, leadership, teamwork, employee engagement, and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

Ade Ayeyemi, CEO of Ecobank Group, responded to the award by stating that the bank acknowledges its employees as valuable assets.

“As a pan-African bank, we are intentional in deploying resources to attract, develop, and retain the right talent. We actively provide the tools and processes to achieve a performance-driven culture and enabling environment.

“Receiving international recognition as being one of the best places to work in Africa is a great honour. It is noteworthy that this award would not have been possible without the support of my colleague Ecobankers.”

The Group Executive of Human Resources at the bank, Yves Mayilamene, also noted that the bank contributes largely to enriching its human capital by supporting and empowering its pool of talents to excel.

This, it achieves by providing its workers an enabling and conducive working environment while also investing in their growth and wellbeing.

The entire assessment process of the bank yielded it a total certification score of 79 percent with any score exceeding 75 percent considered high.

A statement from the ceremony disclosed the duration of the “Best Place to Work” accreditation certification to be one year, that is, November 2022 to November 2023.

By the measurement scale adopted, ‘The Best Places to Work Certified Organizations’ tend to perform better than the market average in terms of running consistent long-term business performance through high employee engagement, engaging leadership, and talent focus.

To become a certified organization, it must be tested that your employees are inspired, engaged, and motivated to exude their best every day, at every given opportunity and everywhere they are placed.

Peter Burke, President of Best Companies Group, while commenting on Ecobank’s achievement, extended his heartfelt congratulations to the bank.

Mr. Burke further emphasized on the uniqueness of the award to Ecobank Employer Brand, stating that the award seeks to strengthen the company’s brand.

‘The Best Places To Work’ Certification

‘The Best Places to Work’ certification is a globally recognized flagship employer-of-choice programme and is delivered in collaboration with Best Companies Group.

The Best Company Group is a well-established US company focused on identifying and recognizing the best employers in over 60 countries around the world.

The award for The Best Place to Work in Africa followed Ecobank’s recognition as the Best Employer Brand in Africa at the 2022 Africa Best Employer Brand Awards.
