Ernest Anim Deserves To Win Kumawu Seat– Akufo-Addo

Ernest Yaw Anim

The government is committed to finishing ongoing road construction in the constituency, according to Ernest Yaw Anim, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) recently elected Member of Parliament for the Kumawu constituency.

On May 23, 2023, Mr. Anim won the by-election with 15,264 votes, defeating Kwasi Amankwaa, a candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and two independent candidates, both named Kwaku Duah. While one Kwaku Duah candidate received 2,478 votes and the other received just 62, Kwasi Amankwaa of the NDC received 3,723 votes.

Even after winning, Ernest Anim promised that the Kumawu enclave’s roads would all be fixed by the government. He added that other infrastructure improvements will soon be made to help his constituents with their problems.

“Already this was our seat, and we have been able to retain it. Now NPP we have cushioned ourselves, we are in a better position now than the opposition party [NDC], to implement the policies President Akufo-Addo wants the party to implement in parliament.”

He claimed that because the late Kumawu MP Philip Basoah had already committed to starting the project, he had frequently claimed that it was already underway.

“Fortunately for us, the contractor came on site on April 15, 2023, and construction started. I have promised the people of Kumawu that the contractor is going to be with us for the next 14 months.

“He’s going to make sure that every road that is in the pipeline, from Effiduase all the way to Wuraso is constructed. He’s going to work on the Kumawu town roads which include Abotanso, Pepease and all the surrounding towns within Kumawu.”

Recent Construction Of Roads Not Aimed At Winning Seat

Ernest Anim made it clear that the project was not intended to secure the seat.

“For us, we know what we have said, and we are going to deliver. This is not a lie, this is not to win the seat, this is something that the party was committed to and the government was committed to doing. We have told you that, for NPP, we do what we say.

“The machines are going to be on the roads for the next 14 months and the people of Ghana will see the good things NPP will deliver to Kumawu.”

The newly elected MP also emphasized that the administration has plans for initiatives in the fields of agriculture and education, and that it will try to address the problem of unemployment in the district.

The NPP is committed to keeping its promises, as stated by Ernest Anim and he assured the Kumawu community of the evidence of development in the future.

He refuted claims that the government engaged in infrastructure development to sway voters and suspicions of vote-buying. Significant development has lately taken place in the Kumawu constituency, including the paving of previously unpaved roads and the building of new roadways.

Ernest Yaw Anim after this big win, was congratulated by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on his victory in the Kumawu Constituency, and he was urged to represent the interests of the Kumawu residents, as well as those of the NPP in Parliament. Additionally, the President commended the Jean-Mensa-led Electoral Commission (EC) for holding the Kumawu by-election on May 23 with success.

“I congratulate further the NPP, NDC and the two independent candidates for their contribution to this positive outcome. I congratulate, also, the Jean Mensa-led Electoral Commission for maintaining its tradition of organizing the best elections in the 4th Republic.”
