Sarkodie Announces ‘Time Off’ In The Midst Of Yvonne Nelson Controversy

Ghanaian rapper, Sarkodie

Ghana’s most adorned rapper, Sarkodie has announced ‘time off’.

In a post on Twitter, on July 3, 2023, the rapper tweeted:

“Time off”.

However, Sarkodie’s tweet is not clearly understandable, as to if he is indeed taking time off or if it is a title of a song.

Later, the rapper shared pictures of him relaxing at a confidential location.

In the past, the rapper has been in the news following the publication of the memoir ‘I Am Not Yvonne Nelson’, a memoir by famed actress, Yvonne Nelson which she opened up about aborting a child she conceived with Sarkodie and responding to the memoir, he released a song titled ‘Try Me’.

Sarkodie’s declaration was met with mixed feelings as most of his fans had a lot of questions for him. Other fans are also wondering why he is taking time off, and a section of them wanted answers as to why his music ‘Try Me’ has been taken off some relevant music streaming platforms.

Some of the reactions of netizens include:

“How did you feel when you released a track to diss a woman?”

“So why did you tell Yvonne to abort the baby? Time on”.

“But why dem remove the Try me song from Apple Music?”.

Nation

Also, Black Rasta speaking in an interview expressed his disappointment in the artiste’s response to the allegations revealed in the memoir.

In his submission, he believes, the artiste’s way of addressing the issue was unpleasant and lacked maturity.

“This is a woman who has gone through hell, I expected the corporate Sarkodie to be more intelligent in his response. His words were wrong, ‘You’re for the street’, so he slept with a street girl. that was very immature of him. You don’t look down on people like that, I wish Yvonne would have filtered some names but Sarkodie’s response was unintelligent.

“If I had my way, I would stripe Sarkodie off all his ambassadorial deals, ban his music for his disrespect for womanhood”.

Why Sarkodie’s ‘Try Me’ was removed from some streaming platforms

Ghanaian rapper, Sarkodie

Sarkodie’s ‘Try Me’, which was released on June 28, 2023, is reported on July 3, 2023, to have been removed from some major streaming platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music.

After several Ghanaians had listened to the song, a lot of people attacked him for the choice of words he used in the song.

Adding that he should have had a little respect for the woman he once had a relationship with and a woman who has carried his child in his womb before.

Some people have jumped to the conclusion that the song was removed due to the harsh lyrics and stolen beat since the news was spread that ‘Try Me’ has been removed from some streaming platforms.

In a post shared, MOG Beatz, the producer behind Sarkodie’s ‘Try Me’ has come to clear the air on his Twitter page explaining that someone uploaded the song instead of its original version shortly after its release on Apple Music and Spotify, adding that the imposter was earning a lot of money from his misdeed.

He further said that their attention has been drawn to it and the Sarkcess team is working to resolve the issue. He added that Apple Music and Spotify thought he was the rightful owner, however, fans can stream on other platforms aside from the two mentioned so far.
