Winning Gospel Artiste Of The Year Has Made My Job More Demanding – Piesie Esther

Ghanaian gospel musician, Piesie Esther

Winner of the 2023 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, Piesie Esther says winning an award has made her job more demanding.

According to the musician, people, especially those close to her have been asking her when her next project will be.

In an interview, Piesie Esther stated that she believes she put in a lot of work but had no idea she would be proclaimed the category winner.

The musician explained:

“The demand for the new songs has increased after winning the awards at the VGMA. Trust me, those who are closer are requesting new projects”.

Piesie Esther

During the interview, she said that she expected the song ‘Waye Me Yie’ to have an impact on listeners but she was surprised by the level of popularity it generated.

Also, she stated that winning the award does not come with money but can serve as a means for a musician to get more opportunities to make money.

She responded to the controversies surrounding her nomination for Artiste of the Year where she disagreed with those who claimed that gospel musicians did not need to participate in award schemes.

She said:

“Being nominated was a good thing. It is on Earth but in a good way. If you are nominated, it will catapult your ministry to new heights. There is nothing wrong with a gospel musician receiving an award nomination. There are people who do not understand, but I believe that people will gradually come to understand these things”.

Piesie Esther

She added:

“This has nothing to do with God. There was no way the other side could have won if God had been present. But God has nothing to do with it. We should accept that it is being done to reward outstanding musicians, and no one should be concerned that Christians are involved.

“Christians should be proud to support Christians who have been nominated for office. Surprisingly, Christians are the ones who discourage nominated Christians. If the scheme does not require you to consult a magician or someone who practices voodoo, we have nothing to worry about”.

She said:

“What else can I do? It has already happened so I will adopt the child and take care of him or her. I’ll not divorce my husband”.

Recently, the issue of abortion has become the most discussed subject in the media after Ghanaian actress Yvonne Nelson in her book “I Am Not Yvonne Nelson” wrote that she had an abortion in 2010 when she got pregnant for Rapper Sarkodie.

Gospel Musician Piesie Esther, who was put in the spotlight during a live interview, stated categorically that she has never committed an abortion in her entire life.

According to her, out of the four pregnancies she conceived, she gave birth to all of them without tampering with any.

She said:

“That has never happened in my life. I gave birth to the babies I got pregnant with. I now have four kids”.
