Madam Candace Holt, Second Secretary of Development for Global Affairs Canada, expressed her pride in the longstanding partnership with Agrihouse Foundation.

Madam Candace Holt emphasised the significant strides made in driving positive change within the agricultural sector and providing vital support to women farmers and women across agribusiness value chain.

“While the agriculture sector can be a challenging sector for everyone to work in with many risks associated with unpredictable weather patterns and rising costs of inputs, many barriers exist specifically for women in this sector, which their male counterparts do not face to the same extent, it is these barriers constraining women farmers and women in agribusiness that we hope to see given due attention to help ensure that both male and female are given the same help and support needed.’’

Candace Holt

The annual WOFAGRIC and Gold in the Soil Awards have evolved into an initiative that celebrates and recognizes the remarkable achievements of women in agriculture, by inspiring others to pursue excellence, foster knowledge exchange, and promote collaboration within the agricultural community.

Beyond Financial Assistance

Beyond financial assistance, Global Affairs Canada supports Agrihouse Foundation to provide technical expertise, capacity-building programmes, and initiatives aimed at breaking down barriers hindering women farmers and farmers with disabilities from reaching their full potential.

This collaborative effort has significantly enhanced post-production activities by granting women access to technology, equipment, and financial services and also increasing access for women and youth to agricultural extension services.

Global Affairs Canada manages Canada’s diplomatic relations, provides consular services to Canadians, promotes the country’s international trade, and leads Canada’s international development and humanitarian assistance.

Global Affairs Canada also provides support to Agrihouse Foundation’s production team as they travel from district to district in the Volta, Ashanti, Upper East, Upper West, and Western Regions to document the exceptional work of our women farmers. This year, Global Affairs Canada are extending their support to cover 33 districts in the Eastern Region.

The WOFAGRIC and Gold in the Soil Awards have emerged as a vital platform for recognising and celebrating the accomplishments of women in agriculture. These initiatives not only showcase excellence but also inspire others to strive for similar achievements.

Agrihouse is a non-governmental agricultural social impact, capacity building, innovation and project management organization with a special focus on changing the perception of, and consciously shaping the conversation on agriculture through the promotion of people-impact initiatives and programs for students, women, farmers, farming associations, agribusinesses and the entire actors within the value chain.

Agrihouse is passionate about Agriculture and wants to see Agriculture rise and work. With a combined effort and experience spanning over 30 years, Agrihouse is passionate about positioning and shaping the conversation on agriculture through smart thinking, effective communication and impactful Agric-friendly projects.
