The Ghanaian Economy Is Recovering- Government’s Spokesperson

Government’s spokesperson on governance and security, Palgrave Boakye-Danquah.

Government spokesperson, Palgrave Boakye Danquah, has tipped Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, to win the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer elections.

According to him, the Vice President has the necessary prerequisite to win the upcoming Super Delegates Conference of the party. He revealed that Dr Bawumia since his assumption into office as the Vice President has proven his mettle and knowledge in the fast-paced world of technology and digitalization.

This, he noted, are essential qualities to move Ghana to the next stage of advancement and develpment.

COCOBOD must Adapt, not Disappear — Finance Ministry Advisor Defends COCOBOD’s Existence

“I think that we need one who has great dynamics of where the world has gotten to. We are in a new generation of millennials; adaptable generation and we need one who is able to effectively connect the dots with the young people and also drive the agenda of global economy. I mean the world has changed everywhere and digitalization is key, and it cannot be underestimated in terms of its impact on middle-income, low-income economy that is striving to be first world and is able to compete with BRICS and even the G7 countries.

“I have postulated that the efforts of the Vice President under the leadership of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, and how well he has served and assisted him, and the government is incomparable to any other government’s Vice President in terms of number two…”

NPP united to win the 2024 elections

Commenting on some statements made by flagbearer aspirants such as Kennedy Agyepong and Boakye Agyarko in the lead-up to the party’s internal election, Mr Danquah stated that in spite of these comments, the party front remains united. With this, he emphasized that the New Patriotic Party is a “party of choice as I’ve always described”.

“It’s a party for the future of the young people in this country, a party of ideas, a political party of tradition and ancestral roots in how we are united… We have no doubt in our minds that the ten persons who have submitted their forms and gone through vetting and passed [will deliver] …”

Palgrave Boakye Danquah

Furthermore, the government’s spokesperson stated that the party is reminded that whoever remains successful as the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party on November 4, will campaign on the legacy of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. He explained that this is so because when President Akufo-Addo won the primaries some years back, he campaigned on the successes of the then President John Agyekum Kufuor.

“So, unequivocally, my top five I’ve stated it clearly, the captain is going to lead clearly – Dr Mahamudu Bawumia… I think that regardless of where anyone is placed, it’s about one who has the competence, character and leadership ability to be able to lead Ghana forward and I think that the rest is left for the delegates to decide…”

Palgrave Boakye Danquah

Moreover, Mr Danquah highlighted that the upcoming internal party election is a delegates’ election. In light of this, he noted that he has no doubt that the delegates will consider the future and health of the party when voting for a flagbearer.

“The Vice President has stated that everyone that speaks for him and people that are in his team should make sure that we have a party that is united and together to be able to beat the NDC, John Dramani Mahama and put him into political retirement and maybe serve as an advisor to the country going forward…”

Palgrave Boakye Danquah

On the issue of corruption, he revealed that government has sought to support the anti-graft institutions in the country and ensure they have been given them all the necessary resources and support that they need to be able to undertake their work. He indicated that the anti-graft agencies such as EOCO, Office of the Special Prosecutor, have been fully equipped and government is also making sure they are investigating corruption-related activities.
