With the fading world unipolar system, controlled by the United States and supported by other powerful western and Asian countries, the resuscitation of diplomatic relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia, has been hailed as a milestone in the Middle East region.

According to the Chinese Foreign Minister, Wang Yi, the Beijing-mediated Tehran-Riyadh diplomatic deal, is an emblem of a “wave of reconciliation” in the Middle East region, and also promised to aid Tehran on “issues concerning core interests”.

Wang stated that, Iran’s effort to respect and strengthened the recently brokered deal with Saudi Arabia, deserves much commendations. He referenced Amir-Abdollahian recent talks with the Saudi Crown Prince in Jeddah.

Moreover, sources revealed that, Wang promised to “continue to support Middle Eastern countries in exploring a development path that suits their own national conditions, strengthening communication and dialogue, adhering to unity and self-improvement, and realizing good-neighborliness and friendship.”

The Beijing’s mediated-deal with the two powerful nations in the Middle East, saw a gradual reduction of tensions in the region, which have persisted for decades. The Iran-Saudi tensions affected Iraq, Yemen, Syria, Lebanon, and Bahrain, whose loyalties were divided among the two nations.

Amir-Abdollahian further “expressed sincere gratitude to China for the constructive role it played in promoting the normalization of relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia” during his chat with Wang, the source claimed.

In general view, the main driving force between the renewed ties of the Iran and Saudi Arabia, has had to do with the recent worsening diplomatic ties between the United States and the two Arabian nations.

According to Iranian sources, the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, capitalized on the worsening ties between the Whitehouse and Riyadh, to build a fresh and a renew relations with Saudi, as a means of ending the United States-driven political and economic hegemony, after the US pulled out from the Iran nuclear deal.

On the other hand, Saudi Arabia aimed to rekindle its relations with China, since its relations with the US has fallen out over the disagreement of matters of regional security.

Not all, other reports from Tehran revealed that, Iran and Saudi Arabia have worked massively to improve their relations since the deal was brokered by China.

It further hinted that, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman, has acknowledged the request of the Iranian Foreign Minister, to visit Tehran.

The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action

Additionally, reports claimed that, the Foreign Ministers also had discussions about the Joint Comprehensive Plan Of Action, as the Iranian minister briefed his Chinese counterpart on how long their negotiations with US have fare.

The source stated that, the Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi called for “the full and effective implementation of the JCPOA” in order to sort out the nuclear dispute between Tehran and Washington.

The said negotiations, mediated by the European Union, have remained on a paused for almost two years with no sign progress.

However, in an effort to force the United States to a compromise, Iran detained five Americans some weeks ago, as they plan to used them as a bait in negotiation to unfreeze $6 billion in Iranian money, that has been locked up in South Korea

According to Antony Blinken, the Secretary of State of US, the demand of release of the detained US nationals, is an “entirely separate matter” from the nuclear deal negotiations.
