Bawumia Has What It Takes- Dr Gideon Boako

Dr Gideon Boako

Spokesperson of the Vice President, Dr Gideon Boako, has claimed that Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has the ability to bring the New Patriotic Party (NPP) together and govern Ghana because Bawumia has a magnetic quality that draws party members together.

According to the Vice President’s spokesperson, Dr. Bawumia has attracted numerous supporters from among those who had previously supported other flagbearer candidates, including Hon. Opare Ansah, Dr. Mark Asibey Yeboah, Kofi Gyamasi, and many other delegates.

“So, more or less, if you talk about a compromised candidate, the candidate to represent the united New Patriotic Party, Bawumia has what it takes and has demonstrated that in his campaign presentations. On the NPP primaries, it’s all good and all well so far. I must say that I should commend the National Party and the elections committee for the way and manner they’ve conducted the processes so far.

“It appears that we don’t have grievances coming from the aspirants or the supporters at a point where some people felt they needed to raise some concerns and the National Party looked into those concerns and addressed them. And I think that it’s easy to go, especially for some of us who are coming from the Dr Mahamudu Bawumia side, we believe and are very certain in mind that by the Grace of God and the help of the party delegates, Dr Bawumia will win the super delegates and also win the general one on November 4.”

Dr Gideon Boako

Dr. Boako stressed that Team Bawumia wanted everyone to be happy and felt like they were not taken advantage of, at the end of the electoral processes. If this happens, he said the team will have a great platform to pursue their political campaign.

As a result, he asserted that this was the reason the Veep had always been polite, presented his case to the populace honestly, discussed his involvement with the NPP and its government, and traced his origins back to the time of former President Kuffuor, when he was given important roles to play in the former President’s administration.

Additionally, he averred that he is certain that is when President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo met Dr. Bawumia and chose him as his running mate. Also he asserted that Dr. Bawumia is the seed that former President Kufuor found, sowed, and nurtured under President Akufo-Addo.

“So, unlike many others who see two blocs or factions in the NPP, thus; Kuffuor’s faction and Akufo-Addo’s faction, Bawumia rather sees two godfathers in the NPP. And therefore, he thinks that he is bestriding the threshold to these gates and that he has what it takes to bring the party together and to bring unity. And he has demonstrated that. You can see around Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, key personalities who they would say are not in “good terms” with the current system or the establishment.”

Bawumia Does Not Speak Against Anybody

The Vice President’s spokesperson made it clear that Dr. Bawumia never criticized anyone in any of his campaign speeches.

“He doesn’t actually mention anybody’s name in his presentation because he believes very much that when he wins, he will need the support of the other aspirants and their supporters to be able to prosecute to the agenda to win the elections in 2024, i.e. break the 8. And that is the path on which we have been moving.

“Those of us following him have been giving him clear signals and warnings on how we should conduct ourselves and present our case in a manner that portrays unity and harmonious traits within the party. And I think that is what the party needs because we’ve gone the first term, we’ve gone through second term and we want to break the 8 and go into the third term. Such an election is not an easy one and that is why no political party has been able to do that.”

Dr Gideon Boako

He added that the party needs an updated plan to “break the 8”, so that nobody would feel tricked or degraded at the conclusion. “Each of the ten aspirants is so unique in his own way and have something great to contribute to the campaign in 2024 and therefore, we must accord all of them the needed respect,” he opined.
