NPP Presidential Primaries: Failed Aspirants Thinking Of Whom To Support- Kwadwo Poku

Kwadwo Poku, one of the hopefuls who did not place among the top five, has said that there have been discussions among some of the contenders about who to support on November 4, 2023, when the New Patriotic Party (NPP) holds its Presidential primary.

There have been multiple discussions on the subject, according to Kwadwo Poku, but the choice of the unsuccessful candidates to support a candidate is a personal one.

He stated that “meetings had taken place, and that except for the establishment candidate, some of us resolved to back a candidate from among us who would perform well.”

“But it is a personal decision, and the five of the candidates who were unable to attend, would have to select who to endorse. We have completed the superdelegates conference, and the five candidates who did not make it to the November 4 election, will have to decide who they will support. We can all support the same candidate, or we might each support a different one. In any case, we must protect the party’s democracy.

“Personally, in the next two weeks, I will speak with my followers and ask which of the candidates they believe is a potential winner of the process and will undoubtedly win the 2024 election, so that we can support the individual.”

Nana Aba Trolls Dr Apraku

Popular TV personality, Nana Aba Anamoah, could not help but make fun of Dr. Konadu Apraku, a candidate for the NPP Presidency, for his poor performance in the just concluded NPP Super Delegate Conference.

She mocked the well-known politician on her Twitter account for failing to win a vote. She emphasized that Ibrahim Adaabor Issah, also known as “Honorable Aponkye,” who earlier ran for office as an assemblyman in the Ashanti Region’s Adukrom Electoral Area, actually outperformed the well-known politician.

“Let it be on record that Honourable Aponkye had more votes in an election than Dr. Apraku,” she posted.

Hon Aponkye became well-known online in 2019, thanks to a video demonstrating his lofty campaign promises. If he won the elections, he promised to provide people with rubbish collectors, tents, free food each morning, and Islamic instruction. Despite a victory procession, he only received 247 of the 2,655 votes cast. However, Dr. Konadu Apraku was unable to win even one vote in the recently held NPP Super Delegates elections on August 26, 2023.

Nana Aba Anamoah added that any media outlet would be wasting its time by trying to cover the Special Delegates Conference. According to her, a runoff between Francis Addai-Nimoh, a former Mampong MP, and Boakye Kyeremanteng Agyarko, a former energy minister, would not attract enough media attention to warrant coverage. “No media house will spend resources to cover a run-off between Nimo and Agyarko. They should both go and sit somewhere and carry their L,” she posted.

Her remarks follow the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) announcement that the two candidates would face off in a runoff election on Saturday, September 2. At the most recent Super Delegates Conference, which was held on Saturday, August 26, both candidates received an equal amount of nine votes.
