Agenda 111 To Create 20,000 Jobs – Oppong Nkrumah

The Minister of Information, the Honorable Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has indicated that the government flagship project Agenda 111 when completed will create about 20,000 permanent jobs in the country.

According to the Information Minister, about ten-fifteen thousand workers are working on the Agenda 111 projects across the country while the projects will create about twenty thousand direct permanent jobs for doctors, physician assistants, nurses and several additional indirect jobs.

The Ofoase Ayirebi Member of Parliament noted that this is in line with President Akuffo Addo and the New Patriotic Party’s vision to create jobs, reduce unemployment and also to improve healthcare infrastructure in the country.

He also stated that most of the projects his team has visited are at an appreciable stage of completion.

“Since we commenced our visit to Trede and to Kpessa to inform Ghanaians about the state of agenda 111, we have noted that there have been improvements of works in most of the project sites. In Kpessa for instance, the project was almost 50% complete and the contractor assured us of early completion of the project hopefully early next year January”.

The Minister of Information also mentioned that even though, there are places where the projects are not progressing as expected, measures have been put in place to ensure its early completion.

Government Committed To Complete All Agenda 111 Projects

The Minister of Information, Honorable Kojo Oppong Nkrumah further indicated that the government has sent a caution to all contractors to commit deeply to the completion of the projects and mentioned that failure on the part of any contractor to work effectively would compel the government to cancel its contract with immediate effect.

“If by next month during our tour, we realize that a contractor is not working to our satisfaction, we shall be forced to cancel their contract and hand over the project to a different contractor as we did in June this year”.

He emphasized that President Akuffo Addo is very keen on ensuring that all Agenda 111 projects are fully completed on time.

Mr Oppong Nkrumah also revealed that President Akuffo Addo’s administration is enhancing all auxiliary infrastructures that are connected to all Agenda 111 projects especially roads, electricity, water etc. to improve service delivery in such areas.

The Minister also stressed that the government has settled all financial obligations related to its flagship project, Agenda 111 and is therefore keen on ensuring it early completion.

The construction of 111 hospitals is the current government’s flagship project, known as Agenda 111. It was launched on August 17, 2021, by President Nana Akufo-Addo, to be finished within 18 months.
