I Wrote Like 80 Percent Of That Song – Kwami Eugene

Ghanaian artists, Kwami Eugene and Mr. Drew

Lynx Entertainment artist Kuami Eugene has revealed that he wrote about eighty percent of Mr. Drew’s hit song “Case” but did not receive proper credit for his contribution.

He expressed his frustration over not being acknowledged for his significant role in the song’s creation. Eugene said he has a gift of songwriting and since he cannot sing all the songs in the world he often writes songs for others.

“In Mr. Drew’s song, “Case”, I wrote the hook and some part of the second verse. I wrote like 80 percent of that song. In fact, before he came to record the song that hook and everything was already done, he heard it and sang it back. So, I do writing for other artists as well”, he said.

“It’s quite unfortunate that this is the platform I have to send a message to Mr. Drew to prompt him to do what he needs to do because the song is doing good. That hook is great. If I had sang it by myself, it would have still been a hit song because I wrote that song thinking about wish me well”, he lamented.

Kuami Eugene also expressed his desire for the need for talents to be credited in the entertainment industry.

“He’s a brother. I wish we could appropriate where credit is due in the industry and give respect so we can move on as individuals”, he stated.

“All I heard from him was like bro, the song, make we drop and that was when I was in America. That was when he texted to ask if we should drop the song but because of the time difference, I was asleep and when I woke up, he didn’t inform my manager or anything. The second person who was around when we recorded the song texted me later to inform me he [Drew] had dropped the song. I texted him [Drew] to ask and he left me on read”.

“Case”, is a catchy melody in which Mr. Drew alongside Sista Afia, and Strongman joined forces to ensure it was successfully delivered.

Condemning Incredible Zigi’s comments

Kuami Eugene strongly criticized popular Ghanaian dance artist and choreographer, Amofa Michael, professionally known as Incredible Zigi, over his recent comment regarding some music artists being “sleeping”. Eugene deemed the statement as both childish and disrespectful to those working tirelessly in the music industry.

However, Kuami Eugene was quick to defend his fellow musicians, emphasizing the strenuous efforts they put into their craft.

Kuami Eugene expressed his disappointment with Incredible Zigi’s remarks. “I’m a big fan of Zigi, but that was quite childish. The vibe for the sleeping side, I think it’s a huge disrespect for Zigi to come out and say some of the artists are sleeping; you don’t know what’s going on”, he said.

Eugene went on to highlight that some music artists invest significant sums of money in dancers to enhance their music’s appeal.

“Some of them are charging really big money to actually dance to the music. What he’s doing is not for free, but he thinks someone is sleeping. You understand what you’re doing. You’re charging the person before you do it for them”, Eugene explained.

“But we [Musicians] never went to sit there and say dancers are sleeping before because I’m just speaking for my people. I think we [musicians] respect them that much to say that we won’t post a particular person’s videos again because he dances like he’s asleep”, he stated.

Incredible Zigi has since issued an apology for his comments, attempting to mend the rift caused by his earlier statements.
