More so, his strong affiliation with the church earned him a very dignified position in society.

However, the utterances came as a great surprise to most people. It came as a disappointment to most of his followers.

Notwithstanding, his apology has been welcomed by many.

However, some constituents also reasoned that his apology could not be accepted because, in the apology, he justified his anger with the actions of the Bank of Ghana Governor. They said they will be expecting a better conduct of their Member of Parliament going forward.

With his growing political profile, the Member of Parliament for Madina, Francis-Xavier Kojo Sosu, will have to refrain from such acts to maintain his stature.

Meanwhile, the demonstration ended without the Minority presenting its petition to the Governor of the Bank of Ghana. The caucus has, as a result, vowed to return to demonstrate again and present the petition personally to Dr. Ernest Yedu Addison.

Francis Xavier Kojo Sosu is a Lawyer by profession. He is a member of the National Democratic Congress and currently a Member of Parliament for the Madina Constituency. He is also a Deputy Ranking Member of the Constitutional, Legal, and Parliamentary Affairs Committee of Parliament.

Sosu won the Madina Constituency seat for the National Democratic Congress in the 2020 parliamentary elections with 661 votes, defeating his nearest rival Sidii Abubakar, a former National Youth Organizer for the party, who received 480 votes. Hajia Rukaya received only 16 votes, and Ibrahim Hussein Faila received 217, placing him third. He nearly missed defeating incumbent Amadu Bukari Sorogho in a comparable primary in November 2015. Sosu received 1,486 votes compared to Sorogho’s 1,738 votes, who had been serving as the constituency’s representative since 2005 but had ultimately fallen short of Abu-Bakar Saddique Boniface.

With 62,127 votes to Abu-Bakar Saddique Boniface’s 46,985 votes, Sosu won the Madina Constituency’s election to the House of Representatives in the 2020 elections. Boniface was the incumbent member and the former minister for Zongo and inner-city development.

In July 2023, Sosu tabled and passed legislation to abolish capital punishment in Ghana, describing the move as a “great advancement of the human rights record of Ghana.
