Mahama Assures Teachers Of Better Days Under The Next NDC Administration

The former President and the National Democratic Congress flagbearer for the 2024 General Elections, John Dramani Mhama has congratulated all teachers on the occasion of World teachers Day and assured them of the Commitment of the National Democratic Congress to better the working conditions of teachers when elected into office in 2024.

In statement to commemorate the World Teachers Day, Mr Mahama stressed on the important role teachers all over the world play towards development and growth of every country.

“Today, on World Teachers Day, I extend my heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to all teachers in Ghana and across the globe. You play such an indelible role, sacrificing and striving for excellence in shaping the lives of future generations. Teaching is more than just a profession; it is a noble calling that requires dedication, passion, and resilience”.

According to the former President, Ghana must reflect on the poor state of education in the country and strive for continuous reforms and improvements in teaching and learning outcomes as the country celebrates the incredible contributions of teachers on the occasion of World Teachers Day.

He noted that improving teaching and learning must be a top priority for government as the nation forge ahead towards a more prosperous future.

“Teachers are the backbone of our education system, and we must provide them with the resources, tools, support, and training to enable them to deliver good quality education to our children”.

The flagbearer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) further emphasized the party’s Commitment to invest in teacher education and professional development programmes in the country when it is elected into office in 2024.

He underscored that well-trained and motivated teachers are the most powerful tools to unlock the full potential of students in the country.

“Through continuous professional development initiatives, we aim to equip teachers with the necessary tools and techniques to adapt to the evolving needs of our education system”.

Mr Mahama also emphasized the importance of addressing teachers’ challenges, including the need for better remuneration and improved working conditions and indicated that the National Democratic Congress will address such challenges when it is voted to power in 2025.

“Our pledge to Ghanaian teachers, on page 69 of our People’s Manifesto of 2020, remains true today. Education is a fundamental right, and every child in Ghana deserves equal access to quality education”.

Mahama Pledges To Strengthen The Implementation Of Free SHS

The flagbearer for the National Democratic Congress for the 2024 General Elections further asserted that the next National Democratic Congress administration would improve the implementation of the the government flagship programme, free senior high school policy.

Mr. Mahama noted that his administration will invest in infrastructure, expand access to educational resources and improve the overall learning environment in the various senior High schools in the county to strengthen the implementation of the free senior high school policy.

“My administration will strengthen the implementation of the free SHS policy by investing in infrastructure, expanding access to educational resources, and improving the overall learning environment in our Senior High Schools”

Mr Mahama also called for the need for all stakeholders to renew their commitment to improve teaching and learning in the country to achieve quality education for all citizens.

“On this World Teachers Day, let us renew our commitment to ensuring that teaching and learning in Ghana reach new heights. Together, we can build an education system that equips our children with the knowledge, skills, and values needed to become responsible and productive citizens”.

Meanwhile, President Akuffo Addo has indicated that his administration is committed to making teaching an attractive and esteemed profession.

According to President Akuffo Addo, in building the education system the nation needs, his administration envisions an education that transcends beyond the traditional boundary of route memorization to standardization test.
