Former Gomoa Central MP Withdraws From NDC Parliamentary Primaries

The former Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central in the Central Region between 2012 and 2016, Honorable Rachel Appoh has announced her withdrawal from the National Democratic Congress Parliamentary Primaries in the Constituency.

According to the former Deputy Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection under the erstwhile John Mahama administration, her decision to withdraw from the party’s parliamentary primaries in the constituency is due to medical advice from her doctor.

In a Facebook post on Friday, October 6 2023, to celebrate her birthday, the former Member of Parliament for the Gomoa Central Constituency expressed her deepest regret about the decision to withdraw from the parliamentary primaries in the constituency as she is not medically fit to contest the primaries.

Looking at the current challenges battling my health, Doctors advice that I cannot contest the upcoming primaries elections.”

Ms Appoh’s extended her profound gratitude to the Executives and Delegates in the Constituency for the enthusiasm and support they have shown her since she declared her intention to contest for the primaries few months ago.

Rachel Appoh Urges Constituents To Undertake Breast Cancer Screening

The former Gender Minister further used the occasion to urge women in Ghana to screen for breast cancer in commemoration of breast cancer awareness in the month of October.

“As I celebrate my birthday today, I wish all Women a happy pink anniversary and urge you to screen your breast since my birth month October is the breast Cancer Awareness month”.

Rachel Appoh

The former legislator also called on the general public to donate towards the National Breast Cancer Foundation Inc. She believes the contributions from the general public will help to provide help and inspire hope to those affected by breast cancer through early detection, education, and support services.

“For my birthday this year, I’m asking for donations to National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc. I’ve chosen this nonprofit because their mission means a lot to me, and I hope you’ll consider contributing as a way to celebrate with me. Every little bit will help me reach my goal. I’ve included information about National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc. below’.

Ms. Appoh wished the National Democratic Congress in the Gomoa Central Constituency the very best and peaceful elections and pledges her support to whoever the party elects in its parliamentary primaries.

“A victory for one is a victory for all. I also pledge my wholesome support to any aspirant that will win. The victory of Gomoa central NDC and the Victory of the NDC in entirety in the coming 2024 Election is my topmost priority.”

Meanwhile, Kwame Obeng Asare, better known by his stage name A Plus announced his intention to run as an independent candidate in the December 7, 2024, general elections for the Gomoa Central Constituency.

The outspoken activist and artist claims that he is deserving to be elected to represent his constituents in the next parliament since he has done enough for the Constituency.

He therefore called on the National Democratic Congress and the New Patriotic Party not to file a candidate to contest for the Gomoa Central Parliamentary seat in the 2024 General Elections as he believes it will be a total waste of resources on the part of the two major political parties and their parliamentary candidates.

The National Democratic Congress in the Gomoa Central Constituency on October 6 2023 opened nominations for its parliamentary primaries after month of internal brawl to elect its candidate for the Gomoa Central Constituency ahead of the 2024 elections.

The Constituency was one of the fifteen constituencies that could not partake in the party’s May 13 2023 parliamentary primaries due to some outstanding issues of dispute that the party could not resolve at the time.
