The Member of Parliament for Agona East Constituency in the Central Region, Honorable Queenstar Maame Pokua Sawyer has begun the construction of an ultra-modern sports complex in her constituency.
The project which is currently under construction is located in the Agona Nantifa, a town within the Agona East Constituency aimed at promoting youth development and providing young people with various opportunities for growth and empowerment.
The sports complex also holds great importance for the community and offers numerous benefits that positively impact the overall development of the youth in the Constituency.
According to Mr. Wisdom Arkoh Acquah who is a member of the Elections Directorate of the National Democratic Congress in the Agona East Constituency, one crucial aspect of the sport complex is that it is intended to promote physical well-being among the youth in the Constituency
“With dedicated spaces for sports activities and physical exercises, this complex will enable young individuals to engage in regular physical activities, improving their cardiovascular health, enhancing muscle strength, and helping them maintain a healthy weight. By providing a platform for the youth to stay active and embrace a healthy lifestyle, the sports complex contributes to their overall well-being and sets a foundation for a healthier future”.

Ultra-Modern Sports Complex To Serve Multiple Purposes
Moreover, Mr Wisdom Arkoh Acquah indicated that the sports complex in Agona Nantifa upon completion will not only be used for sports activities but can also be utilized as an event centre which will lead to additional benefits to the community as a whole.
He noted that the spacious and well-equipped facilities within the complex can accommodate various events such as sports tournaments, cultural festivals, concerts, and community gatherings.
According to Mr. Wisdom Arkoh Acquah by hosting such events, the sports complex will become a hub for social interaction, fostering unity and cohesion among other community members.
Again, Mr. Wisdom Arko Acquah noted that another notable advantage of hosting events at the sports complex is its potential to attract visitors from other areas, thereby promoting tourism and boosting the local economy.
“With large-scale events taking place, there is an increased demand for various goods and services such as accommodation, transportation, food vendors, and souvenir shops. This will create business opportunities for local entrepreneurs and stimulate economic growth within the community”.

Furthermore, according to Mr. Wisdom Arkoh Acquah, the sports complex would also be utilized as a rental space by individuals or organizations for various events such as weddings, corporate functions, or private parties.
He recounted that by charging fees for venue rentals, the income generated would be directed towards community development projects or initiatives that would be led by local leaders.
He also stressed that the income generation aspect of the project would create a sustainable source of funding for additional youth development programs, infrastructural improvements, or other beneficial projects for the communities in the Constituency.
Honourable Queenstar Pokua Sawyer has been the Member of Parliament for the Agona East Constituency since 2013 on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
She is widely celebrated and praised by her constituents through the humanitarian assistance and support she offers to minority groups and the less privileged in her constituency.
For over 10 years, the Member of Parliament for Agona East Constituency, Honorable Queenstar Pokua Sawyerr developed ‘the Maame Pokua Loan Scheme (MPLS)’ to distribute money and support women traders in her constituency.
The scheme is an interest-free loan aimed to cushion women to expand their businesses.
