NPP Flagbearer Candidates Willingly Signed Memorandum

NPP Delegates Elections: Undertaking Not To Resign Signed

Kren Agyapong, Dr. Bawumia, Osei Akoto, Addai-Nimoh

According to Samuel Adu Gyamfi, a Professor at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), the flagbearer aspirants of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) willingly signed the memorandum of understanding (MoU).

The MoU entailed their commitment to remain active and dedicated members of the party even after Saturday’s contest irrespective of the outcome.

He emphasized that considering the prominence and influence of the aspirants, it would be erroneous to suggest that they were compelled to sign the agreement.

NDC Risks Losing Youth Mobilisation Power

“I think that they did not use any coercive force to get any of these gentlemen who have stature, or clout within their own perspective to just go and sign a document they have not perused in the first instance or understand what is found therein. It would be surprising to assume that these gentlemen went to sign the particular document under compulsion or under duress.

“I think that in their right framing of thoughts, in their own understanding about the politics that they have engaged themselves in I believe that they understand the need to further go sign this document. Having said that, it is important to also think through the process. Possibly, these gentlemen have signed because if they do not do so they would be defined as persons or individuals who would rather want to cause mischief or trouble on the day of elections or post elections. So someway somehow, they found the need to come and to sign.”

Professor Samuel Adu Gyamfi

In the sequence presented on the ballot paper, the attendees at the meeting included Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central Constituency, followed by Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, former Minister of Food and Agriculture Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, and former Mampong MP Francis Addai-Nimoh. They were accompanied by their respective witnesses.

Western Region Roots For Bawumia

Menawhile, Abdul Ganiyu, a prominent figure within the Bawumia Must Win Campaign in the Western Region, is of the opinion that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia represents the most suitable choice the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) can present to Ghanaians, especially in the face of ongoing global challenges.

“It is common knowledge that there is a global challenge in terms of cost of living, climate change and hostilities. Ours is to present a leader who will be able to work at finding solutions to all that is happening around us. Whether in-country or with our neighbours.

“Dr. Bawumia has proven to be the most hard working Vice President Ghana has ever had… So I want to plead with delegates to appreciate the fact that this primaries is not an exercise to elect someone for only the party but beyond it. Someone who has a proven record of being a problem solver and can also be a global icon for Ghana.”

Abdul Ganivu

“It is also his conviction that the party has been presented with a golden opportunity to demonstrate to Ghanaians that it is the most peaceful, united and all embracing “, he emphasized.

He claimed delegates have taken notice of the “show of maturity” Dr. Bawumia has exhibited in the face of propaganda against him “and even from some leading party figures,” and are convinced that “their votes will be better spent on him who can confidently guarantee the party’s breaking the eight strive”.

“Since this race started a lot of mud has been thrown the way of Dr. Bawumia but all this while he has not responded, has remained focused and steadfast. He continues to talk about what he can offer, preaches peace and unity. This can only be a mark of a true leader who is ready to work with anyone.”
