Dr. Bawumia

The NPP polls have officially come to a close peacefully across the country with Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia winning with 254 out of 369 votes at the Party’s headquarters at Asylum Down, Accra, according to provisional results.

Kennedy Agyapong garnered 133, Osei Akoto had 2 and Addai Nimoh, 4.
Following from Super Delegates Elections in August, Bawumia and Kennedy scored 107 and 32 respectively. The new results shows a significant improvement for both leading candidates .

The process has been largely free and fair with no incident receiving approbations across the country. Professor Smart Sarpong, Director Institute and Innovation at Kumasi Techinal Univerity, scored the process 85% for being free and transparent.

The Vice President has won North East 100% again as promised. Political analyst believe these number will come in very handy where there is a tie between the Bawumia and Kennedy. Dr. Asah Asante attributed these overwhelming numbers for Bawumia to a trend in Ghana’s politics he terms “the Son of the Soil” factor.

It is however believed that, Kennedy is making significant gains across the country. Provisional results trickling from Ayawaso West Wougon indicated that Kennedy have polled 531 as Bawumia polled 441. Both Owusu Afriyie and Addai Nimoh had no votes at all in the constituency.

Pundits believe the variety of the constituents coupled with Kennedy’s “Jobs Message” in Ayawaso West Wuogon may have impacted the results.

In Kennedy’s home constituency, Assin Central, provisional results show that Kennedy polls 491, Bawumia polls 16 while the two candidates made no votes at all. However, making gains in Nyhiaeso Kennedy polled 379, Bawumia -436, Osei Akoto – 5 and Addai Nimoh had 4.

However, provisional results from Ododododiodio shows a lead for the Vice President as Kennedy- 402, Bawumia – 851, Akoto Osei – 6, Addai Nimo 2.

The competition seem to be a very competitive one. Notwithstanding, both leading camps seem to close ranks throughout the process to ensure that there are no cracks towards general Election 2024.

Sorting and counting continue across the country.

Ashanti Region Must Be Won By The Winner

Political analyst following the preliminary provisional results have asserted that to project a national appeal, the winner of the elections must win the Ashanti Region to protect the party’s powerhouse.

Both leading candidates, Kennedy and Bawumia have show commitment to achieving this feat.

However, pundits believe the 2024 General Elections will be fought in the Northern regions of Ghana should Dr. Mahamudu emerge as the winner in the delegates elections.

The party will meet at the Accra Sports Stadium to hear the declaration of the winner of the elctions by the Electoral Commissioner. However, a euphoria is already building at the forecourts of the Accra Sports Stadium as party members and journalist troop in in anticipation of the grand announcement.
