The Butterfly Movement Bashes NPP And NDC

Alan Kyerematen, Butterfly Movement

Presidential hopeful and founder of the Movement for Change (MFC), Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, has called on Ghanaians to turn away from both the NDC and the NPP in the upcoming 2024 elections, citing their lack of innovative propositions for the nation’s progress.

During an orientation program in Accra, addressing a sizable gathering of enthusiastic volunteers, the former Trade and Industry Minister, affectionately known as Alan Cash, emphasized the need for fresh ideas and a novel approach to governance for sustained national development.

Expressing his concerns, Mr. Kyerematen questioned the absence of novel strategies from the presidential candidates of the NDC and NPP; Mahama and Bawumia, urging the people to rally behind the Movement for Change to collectively rescue Ghana from the grip of the traditional political parties.

“What new things are they bringing to the table? What is it that they wanted to do and couldn’t do in their time in power? They have nothing special or new apart to offer from the old format of running government.”

Highlighting the pivotal role of the youth as the future leaders of the nation, Kyerematen extended a call to Ghanaians from all walks of life to join the MFC movement, emphasizing the imperative of embracing transformation for the betterment of the country in the upcoming 2024 General Election.

During the event, he outlined his vision for Ghana and underscored the importance of introducing a third political force in the country’s political landscape.

The gathering, which drew in excess of 150,000 volunteers, demonstrated the resolute commitment of the emerging movement to vie for power in the forthcoming 2024 elections.

Startling the New Patriotic Party, the former Trade and Industry stalwart withdrew from the Presidential race, citing internal maneuvers favoring a specific candidate as one of the contributing factors behind his choice.

NDC Campaigns Vigorously Ahead Of 2024

Meanwhile, the NDC has taken to the campaign trail as John Mahama throws in a novel idea; 24-hour Economy.

This, according to Rockson Nelson Dafeamekpor, Member of Parliament for South Dayi, the ’24-hour Economy’ initiative envisioned by former President John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has the potential to significantly transform the economy if put into practice.

Mr. Dafeamekpor emphasized this point in a recent tweet, citing several successful projects under the ’24hr Economy’ umbrella, including Terminal 3 at Kotoka, Tema Port Container Terminal, New Ridge Hospital, Maritime Hospital in Tema, UGMC, Legon, Kejetia Market, Accra Data Centre, and the Tamale Teaching Hospital.

He believes that the successful implementation of this initiative will bring about a revolution in the country’s economic landscape.

Also, a renowned economist, Prof Lord Mensah has acknowledged the viability of the proposed 24-hour economy policy, which has been put forth as a transformative strategy for Ghana’s economy by John Dramani Mahama.

Prof Mensah highlighted that while some sectors of the economy are already operating round the clock, there is a need for the government to educate Ghanaians on the potential benefits of bolstering and incentivizing these industries to offer 24-hour services.

“As we speak now, some of them are operating 24 hours but then the off-peak hours seem to be like a burden on employees. So, if we re-conscientize ourselves, the government can align policies by engaging the private sector because some private sectors can work 24 hours.”

Prof Lord Mensah

During his series of meetings with officials of the country’s prominent labor union as part of his ‘Building Ghana Tour’, former President John Dramani Mahama put forth the concept of the ’24-hour Economy’ project, aiming to enlighten key stakeholders about the policies that the next NDC administration plans to implement for the country’s economic transformation.

Mr. Mahama emphasized the NDC’s role as the sole advocate holding the government accountable and advocating for the marginalized Ghanaian population. He noted that the party was often marginalized and dismissed as petulant individuals merely expressing frustration over their loss of power. With recent developments, he emphasized that the repercussions of government decisions are now affecting everyone.
