Why Okyeame Kwame Dropped ‘Insha Allah’

Ghanaian rapper, Okyeame Kwame

Ghanaian rapper Okyeame Kwame having realized the mental torture many people especially the young ones go through in the harsh economic conditions of this country, has released his latest song, “Insha Allah” last month.

The mid-tempo tune which features fast-rising rapper, King Paluta and also produced by the latter sees the duo proffer words of encouragement to listeners not to easily give up the fight for survival.

Both rappers are blessed with lyrical competence and that was surely on display as Okyeame Kwame and his protégé, King Paluta waxing in their rap skills and delivery.

Perhaps, charmed by Okyeame’s rap skills on the song, King Paluta known for songs such as “Yahitte” and “Ahowdwo” praised the former as the best rapper alive in a Twitter post.

Already, the newest tune is getting lots of attention on social media with the “rap battle” that the two served rap fanatics and music audiences.

However, the 2009 VGMA Artiste of the Year winner revealed that Insha Allah, which is one of the songs of his upcoming Love and Hustle album, is to encourage listeners and the Ghanaian general public not to easily give up in these hard times.

“Truthfully, it is difficult for people to even afford three square meals a day or buy common foods like kenkey and fish or beans and gari. We are in difficult times and currently, Ghanaians must be told it will be alright because it is tough and difficult.

“It is difficult for people to buy a bowl of gari and beans, it is difficult to buy kenkey, and when you watch television, children below the ages of five are dying of hunger. Someone must inject positivity in the media so while I’m encouraging people to love themselves, I’m equally urging people not to give up but go out there and hustle.”

Courting Lots Of Controversies With Utterances

Okyeame Kwame in the last few weeks been courting lots of controversies with his utterances and non-conformist opinions about marriage, religion, climate change, and nature.

Interestingly, while the ‘Made in Ghana’ artist says his recent “rantings” stem from his passion for Ghana and pan-Africanism and does not mind people disagreeing with him on issues, he is however concerned about people who deliberately verbally assault him and use such opportunities to denigrate his person.

Okyeame Kwame disclosed that even though Ghanaians are not hostile to his ideas, it is unacceptable for critics to resort to insults and calling instead of refuting the central idea of his argument.

“I don’t think Ghanaians are being hostile to my views. In the same way, I disagree with other people’s ideas, there’s no way I mind people disagreeing with my opinions. What I don’t think it’s cool is that someone puts forward an argument and instead of a counter-argument or refuting the central idea, you come to do name calling or just insult that I’m a fool, look at your forehead.

“When someone is saying let’s not eat turtles because they have a particular role they play in the sea and they keep the world safe, and your best answer ‘is your mother’, that is what I don’t get. It decreases the discourse and takes it to a realm where I’m unable to make my valid points. For instance, people have disagreed with me for saying it is inhuman to beat homosexuals and humiliate them on the streets.”

He further added that if one has any contrary opinion to what he says, they should just mention but not insult his mother, family, and himself.
