Nana Yaa Jantuah

The immediate past General Secretary of the Convention People’s Party, Nana Yaa Jantuah has lamented over what she described as unfair treatment meted out against her by some leading members of the National Executive Council of the party leading to her resignation.

Reacting to the recent public concerns over the news of her resignation following the decision of the National Executive Council of the party to pass a vote of no confidence on the party’s national leadership, Madam Jantuah recounted the countless sacrifices and services she has rendered to the party while in office at her own cost.

According to Madam Jantuah, she served the Convention People’s Party at the expense of her family and business, however, unfortunately, her service was not appreciated nor valued by some leading figures of the National Executive Council of the party.

“I don’t know what I even did wrong; I have gone through a lot; sometimes I sit here, I laugh and smile and I take in a lot and I have swallowed in so much insult. I have done what I could, what they said about non-performance and misconduct, it was later on that I heard it and I asked what is the measure of non-performance. If you give me a job, I guess you have to give me tools as well as some key performance indicators but here I was not given any tools; I manufactured my tools and at the end of the day I am able to deliver some form of result.

“I was not given any money, I used my own money, there was a time I went to the filling station and I decided to use my ATM but my bank was empty. I’m telling you today I owe people because whatever I get from the little job that I do I spent it on the party. Because of politics, I am not getting any contract. For every party program, it is I and my chairman who sponsors with our own money; nobody pays dues! I paid the party’s rent with an amount of GHS 78,000.00 and when I went to Kumasi, I paid for the Ashanti Regional party’s headquarters rent as well”.

Nana Yaa Jantuah Accuses CPP NEC Of Scheming Her Removal From Office

Furthermore, Nana Yaa Jantuah accused the National Executive Council of the Convention People’s Party of refusing to follow the standard procedures in carrying out the passage of a vote of no confidence on the party’s national executive officers.

She indicated that while per the party’s constitution, the various national executive officers of the party were supposed to have been given a 30-day notice of the process leading to the passage of the vote of no confidence, nothing of that nature was done.

Nana Yaa Jantuah thus argued that she believes the passage of the vote of no confidence in the national officers of the party was deliberately schemed and targeted against herself and the national chairperson due to their gender.

“Ever since I came, I have been removed from office four times and none of them go through a process. So maybe inherently, somebody doesn’t want Jantuah to be around but I said something my family is a political family; my father and Kwame Nkrumah started the CPP out of the UGCC. It was my father’s back that Kwame Nkrumah wrote his resignation from the UGCC. What hurt me the most is my deputy who is Kojo Botsio’s grandson, if they say I failed then he obviously failed with me but now they have taken him as the acting General Secretary? Is it not that they hate women because someone got up in one of our meetings and said that the two women are always quarrelling which is not true? It has been a problem for them to accept that women are actually in that position”.

Nana Yaa Jantuah

Meanwhile, Nana Yaa Jantuah extended her appreciation to all Ghanaians particularly her well-wishers who have reached out to her in this trialling moment of her.
