NPP Schedules Vetting Of Parliamentary Aspirants On January 3 To 5

The New Patriotic Party has announced that vetting of aspirants for its parliamentary primaries in constituencies where it has incumbent Members of Parliament would take place between Wednesday 3 Friday 5 January 2024.

In a statement released by the General Secretary, Lawyer Justin Frimpong Koduah, the vetting of the various aspiring Parliamentary Candidates shall be held at all regional capitals.

According to the statement, the various Regional Executive Committees of the party are required to communicate to their respective Constituencies and Aspiring Parliamentary Candidates the date, time and venue for the vetting.

NPP Appoints Representatives To Regional Vetting Committees

The statement further indicated that the New Patriotic Party has appointed some officials to represent the party in the various Regional Vetting Committees across the country.

In the Ashanti Region, the vetting committee is categorized into four groups with the party’s National Organizer, Henry Nana Boakye, Esq, Mr Danquah Smith Buttey, Lawyer Gary Nimako and the Executive Director of the Danquah Institute, Dr Antoinette Tsiboe-Darko as the respective Chairpersons.

Other representatives of the party on the Ashanti Regional Parliamentary Primaries Vetting Committees include Iddi Muhayu-Deen, Esq, Richmond Amponsah Agyabeng, Stephen Forson, Prof. Dr Addai Mensah, Dr Kwasi Nyame-Baafi, Madam Margret Atiemo, Habib Ibrahim, and Kwabena Ampofo Appiah.

Again, in the Greater Accra Region, the Vetting Committee is grouped into two with Madam Kate Gyamfua, the party’s National Women Organizer and Honorable Abraham Osei Aidoo, a former Majority Leader of Parliament as the respective Chairpersons.

The other members of the committees include Deputy National Youth Organizer, Mr Isaac Jay Nii Amahtey Hyde, Kwesi Abeasi, Michael Nketiah and Elizabeth Agyeman.

The Central Region featured Rita Talata Asobayire, 2nd National Vice Chairperson of the party and Former National Chairman, Peter Mac Manu as the Chairpersons for two respective vetting committees with Abubakari Mahazu, William Yamoah,  Betty Awura Adjoa Eshun, and  Prof. Samuel Bert Boadi-Kusi as members.

Furthermore, Lawyer Frank Davies and Dr Patrick Kumah Aboagye are the Chairperson of the two Vetting Committees in the Western Region with Vera Wiredu, Dr Isaac Owusu Mensah, Abdul-Rahman Fuseini and Alhaji Abdul-Aziz Haruna Futa as members.

Again, while the former General Secretary of the party Lawyer Nana Obiri Boahene was appointed as the Chairman of the Bono East Region Vetting Committee with other members such as Anthony Osei,  and Dr. Emmanuel Amankwa, the former First National Vice Chairman Frederick Fredua Antoh would chair the Bono Region Vetting Committee with Eric Asonade Ofosu and Mathew Chremeh as the other representatives.  

However, in the Ahafo Region, the Presidential Advisor on Health, at the Office of the President of Ghana Dr Nsiah Asare would chair the Vetting Committee with Eric Nkansah and Samuel Akwasi Adjei, Esq as members.

Moreover, the Director of Operations at the Jubilee House Laud Oblitey Commey, Dr Charles Dwamena, the National Treasurer of the party and the Deputy National General Secretary of the party Haruna Mohammed would respectively chair the three categories of Vetting Committees in the Eastern Region. Other representatives include Miriam Awurama Duah, William Ampem Darko, Emmanuel Senyo, Honorable Adjei Sowah, Sandra Sarkodee-Addo and Capt Rtd Kwasi Ayi Aquah.

More so, the representative of the party to the Northern Regional Vetting Committee comprised of Kwadwo Afari as the Chairperson with Ammar Khamis and Alhassan Yakubu Tali as members.

Again, in the Upper East Region, Mr Alhaji Ishmael Ibrahim would chair the Vetting Committee with Dr Ernest Owusu Kumi and  Hajia Rukaya Ahmed as members while in the Upper West Region, the 3rd National Vice Chairman of the party Alhaji Osman Masawudu would chair the  Vetting Committee with two members namely Eric Ntori and Dr Eric Donyina

Additionally, Hajia Safia Mohammed, Deputy National Women’s Organiser of the party would chair the Vetting Committee in the North East Region with Dr Aseidu Kokro and Taric Bonsu as members while Chris Lloyd Nii Kwei, the Deputy National Organizer would chair the Savannah Regional Vetting Committee with Hajia Rabi Salifu and Dr Abdulai Mobson as members.

Finally, Joseph Nyaniba Kwayaja, the party’s former Deputy National Youth Organizer would act as the chairman for the Volta Regional Vetting Committee with Hajia Ayesha Yussif and Peter Oteng.

Meanwhile, the New Patriotic Party has further constituted a National Parliamentary Appeals Committee (NPAC) to consider appeals from aspirants and other stakeholders.

Membership of the Committee consists of Hon. Osei Prempeh as Chairman, Mr. Evans Nimako as Secretary and Hon. Opare Ansah, Madam Esther Ofori, Ambassador R.O. Solomon, Prof. Emmanuel Flolu, Dr. Clifford Braimah,  Hon. Eugenia Gifty Kusi, Dr. Agyeman Budu, and  Alhaji Amadu Kalem as members.
